  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new tv's look like s#@T

I really hate how widescreen TVs are set by default to stretch 4:3 instead of letterboxing, and most people never turn it off. It looks so stupid.

In a rather refreshing change of pace, the Humax PVR I just got sort-of had this disabled by default. As long as you plug it in using an HDMI cable and set the box to 1080i, it will maintain aspect ratio.

At the same time, my Panasonic TV wants to overscan 16:9 1080 content by default. I have no idea why this still exists in the fully digital TV age.

All these new TV's look great when you TURN OFF the motion "enhancement" technology.

They do indeed but a word of warning - turning the "enhancements" off sometimes also comes with mandatory "dehancements".

The only way to turn the interpolation off on my 46" Samsung LCD is to put it in a "GameMode" which disables ALL manual picture controls. Consequently it's impossible to calibrate it and get the best out of it.

Serves me right for not reading the manual first.....
This trend is driving me nuts.
I wonder how many actor's careers will be ruined by it?
