  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New to Red and having poor results

I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but the new 4K HD mode in build 18 (which shoots 3840x2160) was specifically designed to provide a faster and higher quality downconvert to 1080P.

Sorry to hijack the post. But I don't know how you guys are able to edit 4kHDproxies with Final Cut. I think there is a bug.

Brand new MAC. Quad-Core Intel Xeon. 2.93GHz!! I'm sorry, it can;t be faster. Files on a RAID0 card.

I drop the 4kHD H proxy in the time line. Click "change the sequence setting to match the sequence" and set the RT to unlimited. It doesn't matter if you change the RT quality to low or high, because it seems that it plays always at high, therefore the playback rate is really slow. Like 3 frames per second.

But if you change the sequence settings to Redcode, the playback improves but then you can't apply effects. It is so odd.

It is really strange. Has anyone find the same issue?

I apologize in advance for writing this here. I might have to put a new thread like Final cut Bug.

REDcode can't be rendered by FCP, only decoded. If you want speed, you need to go ProRes.

Tim I sent you a PM and responded to your email address with a doc that list what I am selling and what I paid. I will be posting the ad today unless it sells. Six people have contacted me so far and I have not even placed the ad wow. It is a turn key kit with the new Birger Mount.

Thanks again for all the help in this thread I am sticking with XDCAM for now.
