Beautiful. In every way.

Thank you for sharing your work.

Good shooting and best regards,

Wonderfull work, Thomas. "Excellent film, le meilleur". I love it.
I had a look about the software used and developped by Eclair laboratories...
can you tell us more ?
Which set of Zeiss lenses ?

"Its the wrong clip of footage to criticize."

I'll criticize what I feel like criticizing. It seems like it wasn't corrected aggresively, so that makes it the right clip to have a look at.

"I hope you can understand what I am trying to express."

You can spare me the dripping condescenscion.

"If you want to look at RED footage critically, look at footage that was shot critically."

I've been here 3 years and have seen HUNDREDS of clips. The point is that the Red footage seems to always NEED color correction, as it has some quirky characterteristics that I was trying to get the straight story on, from Graham, if possible.

It wouldn't have been a big deal if multiple posters (including Graham) weren't making a big deal of the Sony's preproduction colors, which, to me, seem closer to film than any production Red out there.

So either the colors coming off the sensor don't matter, because of all the (expensive and time-consuming) color correction out there, or they do matter. You can't have it both ways.

There is a fingerprint and specific look to most Red-generated footage (which I still would like more info about why this is so). And personally, I don't like it all that much. I'm hoping the next generation of cams breaks away from the old look. It is, in the end, only about what it looks like. All the numbers and algorithms be damned.

Count my agreement that the new F3 clip above looks pretty damned good.

I don't understand.

With the modules to equip Scarlet S35 like this F3, it's, what, $12k? If Red can give us 5K 100MBYTE/s for ~$12k, why does 1080p 35Mbit cost $16k from Sony?

Same statement about Scarlet 2/3" and the XF3xx. Or hell, except for DoF, Scarlet 2/3" and the F3.

here is my own test footage, shot with a pre-production camera...
feel free to ask anything, have a nice day...........tom

Nice short!
Great work!

The cam seems to behave well.
Good.

I see the Sony colors, too and even though I don't particullarily agree on the above statement on "RED colors", I do not see that as a disadvantage.

As to the technical quality of the camera, it's harder to judge from a Vimeo video than all/most I've seen from the DSLR's - which is a good thing.

I see things I wonder about, but where in the chain they are introduced, isn't too easy to say.

How was this recorded? Internally or to an external recorder?

Congrats and cheers!
