With a number of Red One cameras hitting the used market, it seems the pricing gap is becoming marginal at best.

Any thoughts regarding going with a Red One now as opposed to waiting for the S35? I know I would be lacking the 5k and portability of the S35... but at this point I'm not so concerned with that since I would have the added flexibility of better frame rates.

Anyone care to make up my mind for me?

I think the biggest difference is the M-X sensor in the S35 vs the original M sensor in the R1. Resolution isn't a huge factor, since the R1 can do 4.5K in 2:40 mode, but the increase in sensitivity and dynamic range of the M-X sensor is a big deal.

Unless, of course, you can buy a used R1 with the M-X upgraded sensor for cheap. But I don't think many of those are for sale nowadays.
