  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Scarlet footage

RED Scarlet Fixed 8x ? (Not mentioned in the original pot)

CAUTION : the video is shot with Scarlet 8X Fixed, BUT the (white !) camera we can see on it is an Epic !

I know it is obvious and everyone can notice that but I wanted to make things clear so the thread does not get full of "with a Canon Lens ? That's a working Scarlet Cinema !" or "So it is shipping" or anything else that can take it appart.

That beeing said, we have NO IDEA on what the settings are on the footage. However, the image is pretty clean and the shallow DOF lovers will... Love (sorry) the shot.
The Rack Focus feature will also be included in the Scarlet so it is a very nice feature. To me, it will be more than useful ! (especially when you are a pro (movie editor with 3 years of general cinema/camera classes) that use the gear for personnal projects with friends that are not cinema/TV pros and who have to use the camera for a reason or another...)

Speed can be adjusted, and if we can put a third point (so we assign a button to do rack focus on point 1-2 and another on point 2-3) that will make EPIC/ Scarlet lines of cameras dream tools !

Hi,

is it really the 8X Fixed version? It looks a lot sharper than the Felix footage.
I'm starting to trust in this 8X zoom:)

Wow wow. Scarlet image looks stunning
I would bet this is on the tele end of the 8x, appearing sharper than Felix

Or maybe they improved lens performance in the last few months, and it will be this sharp in the wide side too:)
Or it is simply the Scarlet Cinema:)

FOV wise, it's almost definitely on the telly end.

The EPIC is taking up about a 1/3rd of the FOV in this shot.

Woooooow this is sooo coool ! Scarlet shots looks amazing !

You were judging a lens based on a single one second clip...?

If it's soft in a one second clip, it will be soft in a 30min video too.
Either if it shows the best or the worst performance of a lens, it is still a right thing to know it.

For example, can you tell if a lens is sharp enough using only one single picture?
