I just uploaded our latest showreel

There are some nice high quality links there for vimeo, Youtube in 4k, and a 2.5k h264 mp4 download too.

Shot on everything RED; Red One M, MX, EPIC-M, EPIC-X, SCARLET-X, with everything from master primes down to $10 m42 Pentax ebay glass, via RPPs, Red zooms, and Canon L glass. If you can pick which is which you're better at this than me ;) Graded in RC-X Pro, with a finish in After Effects.

Enjoy :)

The skin tones looked really great, I'm loving the look of RC3!

Just a quick question, what format did you export in to upload to Youtube in 4K?

I mastered a 3840x1606 (2.39 aspect) qt prores 4444, then ran off an H264 through Adobe Media Encoder at the same frame size and juggled the data rate to make about a 1gb file. Youtube seems happy with it.

The 2.5k is similar, but with size and data rate squeezed down for smooth playback on our Macpro and cinema display.

nice job. the theater at :12 seconds, what lens/filter/effect did you use? I really love the lighting effect you have here. Looks more natural than the star flares of usual. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Will. The flares in the theatre are a case of us deliberately chasing the EPIC's gate flare. The lens was a PL converted Tokina 11-16 which makes a good sized image circle, and is wide, so tended (pre-fix) to flare a lot even when very carefully flagged. In this case we lost the mattebox entirely, and aimed the off-camera row of stage lights right at the lens. There's some fascinating science going on in the texture of the flare, which must related to the surface material from which the gate flare is propagating.

It looks great, but lets just say that at that point in time, enhancing it and making it a feature was my only option ;) All good now though with the OLPF flare guard.

Cheers Adam. If you're just looking at primary colour correction RCX-Pro is getting to be quite accomplished. A few simple further correction tools such as hue vs hue, sat vs hue, sat vs lum etc would be a really nice addition IMHO without going so far as added power windows and real secondary effects.

Not least it has come a long way in stability. I feel I can step away from the machine and let it render these days ;)

Looking at our web stats for people who've viewed the reel, there's a lot of people out there with 2.5k capable systems. Nice to know that something beyond HD is getting consumed, even if 4k is still a challenge.
