  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

With my Pure Speculation Sense tingling, I modestly assume that a read/write speed of 160 MB/s should be entirely possible with two RAIDed SSDs. If the Red RAM drive can meet this bandwidth, will we see a REDCODE72 to match?

AFAIK there will be nothing higher than RC36, it does not depend on the write speed of the storage but on the processing power of the RED ONE that is limited to 36MB/s.

sorry, thats not what i meant by the smiley face, i can see how it could be read like i was being coy :)

Lighter compression generally requires less processing power. And the SATA interface external magazines connect through should be more than fast enough for a substantially higher data rate.

So, it seems technically plausible, at least from the outside. (Which is, admittedly, a very large caveat.)

This would be nice for that shot with full frame water or tree leaves all moving...I have seen the limit of compression, super wide shots with water don't do well....would be awesome to get a little higher bitrate for that special shot...although I have not tested this type thing on build 16 yet...

Tried the exact thing on B16 also and I agree with Obin.
