Problem with FCP XML import

Problem with FCP XML import

Hi,

I cant seem to get the XML import function to work -- I've been exporting a timeline xml from final cut (using qt proxies in original timeline), using clipfinder to conform to full R3D files and changing the resolution to full res, and then importing the xml into the timeline in redcine-x. Every time, the program crashes.

I'm on a new mac pro, 64 bit -- i tried the 32 bit version too, with now luck.

Thanks,
Dan

64bit build dies when I try to automatch audio and playback the clip afterwards.

Super nice being able to flip the image, but it introduces a red stroke around the frame - is it just meant as an indicator that the image has been flipped upside down?

Nice work guys, this is a very polished nice looking piece of software.
I needed to open build 104 just to see how far things have come.

Thank you for adding rotation controls!!

Set it to "no crop".

do we still need to use clipfinder for xml translation? i cut a video with pro res (*some bits media managed short clips, and some clips are entire takes), and now i want to take that video into redcine as R3D, and trim it so the entire video can fit on a single drive with no handles, and someone else can open the video up as a redcine-x project. is this doable right now?

So - does all builds of Redcine-X use the same preferences files and settings? After fiddling around with 320 I opened up 262 and all my settings were gone - including all of my Export Presets! :-(

Here's a suggestion. It would be great if RCX could name the clips by using metadata (in particular something like camera, reel, scene and take) when exporting.

The 64-bit Windows version is not working for me, either:

[redcine-x.exe - Application Error]

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002). Click OK to close the application

Something flexible for constructing a filename is planned.

Coming along nicely.

Request: when outputting trimmed R3D files from the bin or timeline, save the current grade into the metadata of the trimmed clip, rather than the grade metadata of the original clip. This would allow the following (extremely useful) workflow:

1) Bring EDL into RCX.
2) Grade shot by shot in the timeline.
3) Export shots as trimmed R3D files.
4) Bring trimmed shots into Color, Resolve, etc. with shot looks intact.
5) Conform trimmed shots from EDL.

In other words, you could dial in Red-specific look settings in RC-X, in an interface optimized for working with those parameters, and then have those look settings follow you into your "real" grading environment.

This is a very smart, real-world suggestion, I second this.

Hi Tony,

No, export presets are backwards and forwards compatible, and are preserved under ~/Library/Application Support/red/RedCineX/Presets.

I've been trying to recreate what you are saying, but no luck so far. Feel free to PM me if you can recreate this!

Cheers,
David

Sounds good, Deanan. The same would apply for the "burn in" feature. Would love to bake dailies with scene, reel and take etc. Also - a "preview" button in the "burn in" window would be a great addition!
