  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new REDCINE-X feedback

s there a way to bring a look back into RCX? As I mentioned in a previous post I want to be able to send a R3D file with its Look File to people in different locations. This would be a great feature if it is possible...
thanks

That's what the RMD files are for. RCX 158 supports manual and automatic saving of RMD files in the clip folder.

I noticed that Lift, Gamma, Gain settings are not included in the look file that can be saved to camera. The best way to dial in a look (IMO) is with these settings and a Tangent Wave or similar control surface. I was wondering if there are plans to incorporate Lift, Gamma, Gain into the on camera look. Obviously, it would be too complex to dial in on the camera itself but if the camera supported displaying the results of these adjustments that would be great.

When doing a frame grab, could it be possible to sneak it in front of the rendering queue (or even get it done before continuing with the processing?)

Also, could it be possible to swap the positions in the rendering queue with drag-and-drop?

I thought Eric's solution of exporting to 1920x1080 had provided me a way out of random black frames but it has not. I also had serveral crashes of RCX 158 while exporting. This been true in both 10.5.8 and 10.6.2. Anyone else get these problems with the latest build of RCX?

Carl, can you send me the latest logs?
Thanks.

I'm getting a "your graphics card does not support image dimensions of this size" when trying to do a full debayer in R-X on my Macbook Pro (no Rocket card)?

Some older Nvidia cards and most ATI cards only support textures to max size of 4k. So if you're trying to see 4.5k at full, it's not possible.

We're planning on adding tiled textures later on.

Thanks for the info. Firing up the Mac Pro now ;-)

Is there a bug report thread going? I'm getting crashes left and right while trying to render some of those MX samples Jarred posted. I get about 15% done and WHAM! Crash. I'm still on Windows XP.. maybe that's the prob?

Working so far on a 2008 3.2Ghz Mac Pro, 18GB ram, Leopard.

Might be a bad download.

There's no bug thread and they actually don't help. It's best to email me
(my name at red.com) the log file with the verbose log turned on.

when going out the kona card (hdmi), my plasma tv matches my computer screen. (playing pro res clips i rendered out with redcinex158)

when going out the rocket into my plasma tv (hdmi) in redcinex158, it does not match the computer screen

unless im missing something it seems like redcine is outputting a darker image over the dvi than it is displaying on the computer monitor

We send exactly the same image out through either path but it could be that your monitor setup is altering the image through monitor setup?

actually i rendered another clip out just now and all thats happening is its not applying the look to it when i render the clip out. is that a current bug?

Not that we know of.
Was it maybe a difference of rendering out from the bin or the timeline and one not have a grade on it?

Where do I find that log file?

Ahha I worked out whats crashing it, using footage from Build 16 or older its crashing when it attempts to bring the footage into a bin. Confirmed and repeatable with footage from Build 3.1.8 16. Anything newer than 16 seems to be fine.

Can you upload that clip for us (email me)?

Thanks.

Audio

I've checked audio camera on export but am not able to hear on playback in FCP. Is audio it functioning yet?

Log file sent, Deanan. Seems to be a memory issue, perhaps.
