  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new REDCINE-X feedback

watermarks in RCX 416

watermarks in RCX 416

just been playing with RCX 416. I had some problems with 356 with watermarks not appearing. The watermarks seem to be present in 416 - however.... the settings are different now.It seems the value in Location (in export settings) is a percentage of the height measured from 0 at the top of the frame. I think this was the opposite in the earlier versions which worked. I also note that the watermark now appears exactly on the LEFT EDGE of the frame (also not the case earlier) and I cannot see a way to change that. Lastly, the selected font for the watermark has never been retained when editing the export settings. It always defaults to the first font in the list. The actual font in the watermark though seems to be the one I have previously chosen. ie if you don't change it, it will remain on the last setting even though it is not listed as such.
Hope this is helpful for you coding guys - keep up the great work and thanks

Peter, thanks for the feedback. The Location value for watermarks was, like you said, reversed in previous versions. It's now consistent with the Burn-in Location value. As for the horizontal position of the watermark, are you looking for a margin or for a centered alignment? Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the selected font issue you describe. Does that happen for any font you choose?

One comment about the Windows version: In the previous version I used to have both Premiere Pro and RedCine-X running the same time and was able toggle between editing and color grading. With the new version of RCX this is not possible as it occupies the whole screen unless I hit Crtl-Alt-Del and to get to the Windows Task manager, but the more I change between PPro and RCX, the slower they become and more time is required before the programs become functional after each change.

One nice thing of the new RCX version is a shorter strat-up time.

Hi Grant,
Thanks for the quick response.

re the horizontal position for the watermark, I would like to control its position if possible or at least have a margin of say 20-30 pixels, which is more or less as it used to be in previous versions. Re the font I've been investigating... it seems that OTF and TTF fonts are remembered but Postscript fonts are not. Of course the font I want to use is Postscript. As I mentioned before the font does display correctly in the watermark it's only in the export settings that it does not appear.

Hi Peter,
After some investigation we determined that the Postscript bug is caused by a bug in one of the third-party frameworks we use. So unfortunately there's no quick fix as of yet for that one.

We'll look into a way to set the horizontal position of a watermark.

Hi Grant,

thanks for looking into the watermark positioning
at least it is possible to work around the Postscript issue even if it's time consuming.

cheers

I'm find that Redcine is somehow feeding back to the source drive and apparently deleting the R3D files. I have experienced this on two machines and two source drives. Anyone else seen this or understand why?

Am using build 356 on Snow Leopard

Love all the improvements that have been going on with RedcineX.

I'd love the ability to export WAV files from RedcineX. I know that seems weird, but it would have saved me time today.
