  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Not sure if anyone else has posted about it but we just received ours... and it's beautiful! Well worth the wait... the finish is sweet and most importantly, it fits perfectly and locks in place very tight.

Since my serial number is lower than yours, I'm hoping that this means mine has been shipped already. It's been quite a wait.
 
I got my tracking number over the weekend. Thought the 'backorder' was just that -- didn't know they were tweaking the design. Awesome, guys, thank you! You really go above and beyond!
 
Hmmm, I just received mine about 3 weeks ago and I'm having the same problem others have had- lots of slop/wiggle in the plate. The finish looks great but far to loose to be considered acceptable on a tripod. Sending mine back in...

Love to see some photo's of yours mattscope. When you can.

i received mine only 3 weeks ago as well, and as HD Arizona said there is still a lot of 'play' in the shoulder dovetail mount, yes there finish is great, but the whole shoulder dovetail system cannot be used on a tripod, you need the cheese plate for a solid tripod mount.

Hey guys,

The new rubber piece(Higher density) that reduces dovetail movement started shipping right after NAB. Anyone who is having Dovetail movement problems can call RED and we will send you a replacement piece. Again, this is not "rock solid" solution...ie...Cheese plate. However, the movement has been greatly reduced and should be satisfactory for "stationary" tripod use.

I am a bit disappointed. So the solution for the whole dovetail-doensn't-fit-bottom-plate issue is a piece of higher density rubber? I guess that makes my dovetail now officially a paperweight.

Oh well, still like the camera though.
