Hello All,

This is my reel, titled, "American Cantos." This short is comprised of footage shot through the great plains and the American Southwest.

ENJOY!!

Joe these are beautiful and right up my alley (growing up in northwest montana). If I had a red this is exactly the type of subject matter I would shoot.

Joe,

Wow!
Dead Lonesome is spectacular. I know exactly what you mean as being the impassioned observer. You captured a sense of wonder. moving landscape and astro timelapse really puts a perspective of this universe or at least a glimpse of it's grandness.

in short i'm in awe.

Speaking of which, if you're ever in the LA area and need some free help (assistant etc) on a shoot like this, I'll do it for free just for the experience.

Stunning, I love your framing and composition, really cool reel Joe

Nice mood montage Joe! I like your framings, composition, edits, and music...the complete package.

This piece is a good example of the concept that quite often when you have a synthesis of good visuals, music, and editing pace, that no narration is needed. The piece speaks quite clearly - even without narration...

Very nice...

Joe,

Some of those images are quite inspiring, you have a moodyness to your shooting, good music choice to bring out your images.

Take it or leave it, but maybe 25% of those shots were filler shots, no? They weren't bad shots, just did nothing in particular for me, examples were shots of a flower, been done a million times and nothing in your lens made it new or stand out. The impressive bits were the mountain ranges, I could learn quite a few things from you and especially the bits of moving images on the lake/pond/marsh. Also, you do clouds very well, which I know from experience takes a lot of luck, but mostly a persistent adventure with lots of patience. It's nice to see the time you took creating this reel.

A few other impressions... it's your art and take it or leave it, but if you had just the top notch stuff, maybe cutting your reel in half to a third, and keep grouping items to tell your image story the way you already do, I'd say watch out, because your going to get people calling you to shoot their movie. The unimpressive shots make me doubt you consistency.

All the best,

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words. And to Will Keir, I truly appreciate you constructive input and take to you suggestions to heart. As everybody well knows, being objective about your own works gets to be really difficult over time, and after awhile one tends to fall in love with certain elements that really have no place.

Beautiful work man. Wow.
