  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new RED Pro Program...

Sorry if my frustration is showing... I do hear the same stuff a few times and we aren't going to answer every question since there are still several months to go before we ship. I am glad everyone is curious so I'll try to relax on it a bit.

Thanks for your patience.

Jim

Can we get a sticky of all the latest updates and new info that has been confirmed from Jim and Red about Scarlet/Epic/DSMC? Also maybe include the new pics and renders. So newbies and old users can go to one thread and get all the updates instead of asking the same questions.

Thanks Dave for your effort. Though your schedule isn't an official RED one and Jim asked to sign it with your name... I think your speculation is very optimistic...

It would be great to have an "Announcement" thread locked down by RED&Moderators that contains only "official" 3D renders & quotes.

No problems....It lays out in graphical form the delivery dates (or later) on Red.com.
It's less optimistic than the Red.com announcement!!
But I don't know why everyone gets so precious about the start dates as most won't receive theirs till 12 months after launch. Jarred asked me to sign it..he liked it.

Yes they did Christian....thank very much. you mean add a few resistors...and I have the monstro plans

Dave,

SS Scarlet is estimated Summer 09, thats Jun/Jul/Aug. Add Jim's 1 or 2 month delay and you're into Sept/Oct.
FF Epic is estimated Winter 09, that Dec 09. Add Jim's 1 or 2 month delay and you're into Jan/Feb '10.

Should start a poll asking when people actually feel they'll first arrive. More than happy to add a 'range' to timeline. As people have pointed out..it's all guessing .
But the other thing is MOST people will be getting their Scarlet/Epics many many months after launch date, but still it's very nice to see then out in someone's hot hand.

Dave,

It would be good to have the lcd so it was still on a quick arm but the arm was upgraded so as to fold neatly on the camera and the lcd fits into a recess on the side of the camera for easy transport while being a protector for the lcd.

Here´s my experience with lens request. Usually we arrange three sets of lenses.
Set Nº1 : 14, 20, 28, 40, 65 and 100. Popular (many ask to replace the 14 for a 16mm).
Set Nº2 : 16, 24, 32, 50, 85 and 135. Very popular.
Set Nº3 : Both set Nº1 and Nº2 togheter as a 12 lens set. Rarely asked for.

Acc. Nº1 : Zeiss Master Diopters (They are just great !)
Acc. Nº2 : 2X extender. (If it´s a good quality 2X it is a fantastic tool to have)

On the long focal primes the difference is very subtle when compared with wide lenses. A 16mm looks quite different than a 20mm. And an 85 and 100mm looks pretty much the same.

18mm T1.8 (to match the set) will follow the first five lenses a few short months after delivery begins. Other lenses, including 14/15mm are in design.

Jim

Can't hardly wait! I also have to say a 40mm would be great as a future focal length. 65mm, too... :)
