  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new RED Pro Program...

The modules can go anywhere you want within the distance of the cable which does have a limit. Anybody been reading my posts?

[Mr Burns] Excellent.[/Mr Burns]

I missed the announcement that the modules could be cabled together first time around.

Jim, thanks for being patient with those who don't fully understand (or care not to do research) on what you are/aren't offering with the brains and modules. I'm sure it must be frustrating sometime to "hear" the tone of some people's posts.

I for one am VERY excited about what you are offering and the ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.

Thank you for keeping at it.

Sorry if my frustration is showing... I do hear the same stuff a few times and we aren't going to answer every question since there are still several months to go before we ship. I am glad everyone is curious so I'll try to relax on it a bit.

Thanks for your patience.

Jim

I think we need a sticky that encapsulates all the wisdom that Monsieur Jannard has offered to us and have it updated each time he speaks and send everyone there when somone asks the same questions that have been asked many times before.

I'm quite happy to just sit back and enjoy the ride taking everything I see with a pinch of salt, knowing/not knowing that it has already changed or been improved upon.

Its interesting to have a slight insight into R&D from an outsiders point of view. Above all I trust RED to create the best that they possibly can at the present time.

curiosity = sales

several months to go before we ship.

nice
lookin' forward to you surprising everybody

Are all of the connections digital between modules? Or should we worry about generation loss if you had the IO module on the very back passing through 5 other modules?

Maybe is time again for a "locked" thread to keep filing all news and clarifications and another one for new pics... :whistling:

Yeah dude. Chillax - I hate that word. Anyway...remember who you ARE, and what you're doing for a million dreamers. In a way, you asked for this. Along with the adulation is going to come some quackery, too. Enjoy the ride...like you're asking us to.

We're just anxious to get the cameras in our hands.

Blessings,

E

Exactly. Kinda hard to wade through 1000 posts and keep up with all that's being said.

A guy goes away for 2 days and almost misses the show!

So, what's been confirmed so far (that I've missed):

Mini audio Plugs in every brain
Movable handle (efficiently creating much more handheld opportunities)
Modules can be physically apart, connected by cables- Another excelent feature for difficult shots, workflows and shooting situations.
"Months away"- (I would assume only for a couple of seleceted models- Definitely for the Epic-X upgrade, but what accompaining Scarlet will join this? I assume 2/3 Scarlet Interchangeable and S35 Scarlet, for their use of Misterium X and basically using everything that has been showed to us so far :) )

Anything I missed?

I have a technical question. Attached to every Scarlet and Epic there's a Redcode number. 35-45-80, etc. Does this relate to Mbs?, Can the S35 Scarlet code be recorded to CF cards efficiently? Can you guys give us any information concerning recording times per GB? This would be nice to know, specially for recording in the DSMC Stealth configuration.

I remember there was a sticky thread called "What do we know so far"- maybe this should be updated for people to quickly know what's been going on.

Good job guys. Excelent concept. The Ultimate DSMC. Keep up the good work!

I think we need a sticky that encapsulates all the wisdom . . . .

Better than a sticky would be a wiki!

Seriously, a wiki is just what this forum needs. A wiki is a web 2.0 application. RED is already using web technologies (with a forum such as this) to spread its news. There's no reason to exclude this incredibly useful tool. Articles would be much easier to peruse than thousand-post threads and would also relieve RED from repeating itself as much. I think it would be a win-win!

They're fairly easy to set up (for a web programmer, if RED has someone who set up this forum, that same one could soon set up something based on MediaWiki or another tool). Come on, Jannard! Do it!

If I remember correctly, the REDCODE number is the bitrate in megabytes per second (that's MB/s, not Mb/s) at 24fps. You then have to add on the space for audio.

Can't be. That'd be something like 850GB an hour. I think (at least up until now) Redcode numbers, like 28 and 36 for the RED ONE have been Mb/s (little b) meaning that its an 8th of the size, or about 100GB an hour.
Peace,

-Harry
