Any news when the new FCP plugin (featuring Redcolor, Redgamma) will be made available? I was told that Hollywood DI featured a beta plugin in their Apple Workflow "booth" at Red Day.

Any news when the rest of us will have access to it?

Thx

I just logged in to post the same question. I spoke to the same person at Hollywood DI at Red Day this past Saturday who mentioned that they were using a new beta plugin for Color that allowed them to have the benefits of the new color science when grading in that program. He had no idea when it would be made public though. If anyone (or Red) has that information, it would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, Red Day was awesome! Thanks again to everyone at Red for hosting that great event.

Best,

Omar

Thanks for the link Ben. I'd been following this pretty closely for a while but did not those posts from last week. Hope they can get it stable soon!

It seems Red is busy working on REDCINE-X that gives both Mac and Windows platform people happier.

I go back and forth between rendering in RR with ROCKETcine-X and proxy/Color workflow depending on the material requires. Certainly hope to get the REDcolor and REDgamma and the FLUT in the Apple Color since MC Color works so well with Apple Color.

I spoke to Deanan and Graeme on Red day and Deanan said that the beta release would happen in a day or two. It seems like we might be seeing something sooner than later.

In the next day or two.

Will this plugin work with the RED Rocket, i.e. with the related processes be accelerated by the Rocket? It would be nice to be able to use Color with realtime playback and render with the new colour science...

from what I understand the Color integration with Rocket is still off the table. This new plugin will be to access the new color science only.

No M-X support?

EDIT:
The day we get full rocket support in FCP, I will be very very happy!

Nice!

...Would sure be nice to have monitor output from color via the Rocket. Just sayin'

Hopefully the stupid looping bug will be fixed too. Anyway, great news about the update. Long overdue!

Wasn't one of the features of RR that it would be integrated with multiple applications Like Adobe Premiere/AE, FCP/color, Vegas etc...? Redcine -X is really nice, but I still would like to be able to use the full benefit of RR in my editing/vfx/coloring application.... :-)

ohhh its better then the HDR announcment

I don't think the issue is with Rocket but the host apps. All Red can do is develop API's that host apps can hook which I think has been done. So we're just waiting for Apple to develop the handshake for the Rocket....i think.

Yes, Rocket support is in the RED SDK. It's up to third party developers to incorporate it into their software.... .... ... ..
