  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

What would be even more awesome, for the bubble blowing contingent, on that front is a technology that would allow the transmission of video signals through liquid. 'Beaming' an untethered video feed from an underwater shoot to a control deck on a boat or shore station who could then also control the camera from an equally untethered surface interface would be the epitome of cool.

Sounds like a good idea. What frequencies work well under water?

I'm just the ideas guy....

Maybe an over-the-air video transmission codec that was designed along SpaceX so that when they go to Mars, they can transmit back tons of high quality 4k+ video back to us (maybe even live).
Einstein would like a word with Jim if he could pull that off!

I am frustrated.

The development time to release of the 1st Oakley grip almost sent me to the hospital with a nervous breakdown. The 1st Oakley goggle was 9 months late. The 1st Oakley sunglass was a year late. The 1st RED camera was over a year late. The RED EPIC was more than 2 years late.

Everyone forgets that changing the world is not easy. Not me.

This new project already has me depressed. It is the most mind-numbing project I have ever worked on. I am more excited than ever . But delays in development have me up at 3am... just like old times.

I want nothing more than to share what the future will be. But sharing too early gives a roadmap to the competition.

Trust me when I tell you that this is big. The biggest. It should not be surprising that it has also proven to be the most difficult project I have ever worked on.

"Everything can and will be made better. It is just a matter of when and by whom." I said this back in 1975. It is true today.

I will say that AR and VR are now officially obsolete...

Don't stop. You can do it. But you already know that :)

OK I'm going to go for immersive holographic technology allowing the 'tripper' to go to a Disco with Elvis, walk on the moon with Einstein or simply discuss the finer points of cool with Steve McQueen. But then again, that's just me, or am I trippin'?

You're definitely working in the future when you get to say things like: AR and VR are obsolete. I love it!!! Hang in there Jim. Breakthrough is close. The world needs you. You got this!

Oh My, it's the EYE-POD from futurama. :)

Sorry, hard to resist sometimes.

Jim,

Seriously. Sounds like one of three, or four, things. Something I am planning that is extremely difficult basically out does all VR (in some way) and AR out there. The 3D volumetric space tech I can't even remember everything. But the last thing is a suit to give you a full sensation feeling with gravity control (been figuring that one). Mind control and tapping is another thing. Projectinh images inside a persons head is possible with my techniques, but have to be cautious. These sorts of things have been advanced recently. I know your inbox is disabled, but send me a message if you come to Cairns Jim.

Thanks for the update too. I know what you mean by letting the competition know. I am a reductionist simplist my self, reducing things down to the most efficent elegant forms, but if I tell anybody what I figure out, it gets easy to reproduce.

However, the only question is, what sort of minimum time period to save the money.

The time for the average person to complete a complex task is often the timeframe they refer to when judging if 'something is taking too long'.

These are likely people whom have never challenged themselves to do what others have never attempted, and do not have what it takes to keep going something until it is complete.

Because of this, I would shy away from sharing concepts until the time-frame is one that people can grapple with - without judgement.

You are not 'late' by any stretch of the word.

AJ

Another guess (while I'm here!):

+) A scalable 3D image that is glasses free : From the desktop all the way to Cinema that does not relay on 'crazy high' resolution (the pitfall of existing resolution-hogging designs)
+) The images could look so real so as to 'transport' you to a different place, and immersive enough that one looses sense of time.

Future revealed

Future revealed

If Jim could Predict the future - when would this project be revealed? When will the frustration be over? 6 months from Now... Year from now? 2 years. If Jim could circle one for us so we can mark the date on our Calendar. We can leave Jim alone to work on the project and then ask the question again at the appropriate time.

Cheers,

Richard

I too am on the holographic tech bandwagon. Mainly because that would be so awesome to see it 'mature' after so long.
