  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: You live in a climate that isn't extreme, so you do not have air conditioning. During a rare heat wave, what do you do? You go into your augmented reality of a cool place and your brain tells your body that you are cool. Big savings on buying an air conditioning unit for the outlier to the normal temp, and an energy savings as well (depending on the cost of running the virtual reality program. '-)

Or your body is feeling slightly out of kilter. You enter a whole body virtual reality and your own body self-diagnoses your problem (for the very aware) and takes steps to correct the problem. Doctors become augmented reality programmers for the most part. Health care costs become very affordable.

Sounds like a great concept for a dystopian novel, Elsie: you're dying but your doctor--an augmented reality programmer--is doing his best to make sure you'll never know it. Your world is filled with experiences that give your mind and body the impression you're healthy. No reason to treat illness or disease, no reason for anyone else to know or care when you suddenly disappear.

Interesting Elsie, but positive thinking only goes so far. They have put old couples in environments like the 70's and it has given them a boost (probably hormones etc from excitement and relating to their previous levels). There are forms of controlling these things too. But in reality there are limits to what to expect on average. Body temperature depends on dopamine/testosterone, I don't remember exactly, in a part of your brain that regulates body temperature. Why some feel heat and pain, and others very little. When these levels are low they are probably not going to be pushed to any great height normally. So on a hot steamy day you might feel like melting in your vr chair, dripping sweat. I've got autism spectrum disorder, and that would not be good. :)

In aircon you could go on a vr journey though.

Heh, well that's one take on it. But personally I see it more as Utopian reality.

The research you refer to involving putting older (as opposed to old '-) people back in familiar surroundings from the past is the same research that has helped form my thinking. And theories such as the one suggesting we actually have a second brain located in our gut, are also instrumental in my thinking.

As for the theory of gut-as-brain goes, it does not consciously communicate with us but is linked subconsciously to our thinking via our consciousness. Perhaps that is why we refer to "having a gut feeling" about something but can find no other way to describe it.

And as for positive thinking only going so far, if as Einstein said we really are living an illusion, why does that have to be limited. '-)

It has to do with space. And travel. And time. And electronics.

Get ready to place your deposit. It will be guaranteed by me.

I'm sure red owners don't need any convincing. When will the news be revealed?

A delusion maybe for a lot of people :) yeah, if people are mad they can believe anything. I met this guy at a food van that was convinced that he was King Arthur and Excalibur was hidden in the city. The truth is that many people don't know how little a delusion is and can be (meaning most are deluded at least a little but don't see the delusion as delusion). So I often keep it in subconscious mind at least when people argue. They act as if the attempt to reason is delusion and their delusion is real instead. They look at the narrower picture rather than the fuller picture (the delusion not really being in the picture). Therefore, they are convinced one is wrong don't much how much you can prove otherwise. They make a stand for the delusion rather than the truth. The truth has become delusion for them. As it says "good has become evil, and evil become good" and they become convinced this is the right way, in the slope and platues of the spiral down. They see, like most of us, and do not see (like most of us). They see in part.

There are supposed to be more nerves to your gut than any part of your body, but I don't know if this unit per area or what. But I don't know if I have heard of brain cells in the gut. I know that your digestive tract has a vast variety of bacteria that break down food into better nutrients, and produces neuro toxins and brain related chemicals, so that depending on which chemicals are dominant or not greatly affects mental function or dysfunction and probably personality. It is a great factor in Autism and Aspergers for examples. It is amazing how little detail you feel in there with all these nerves.

However, I have heard of brain cells in your heart as a proposed second brain.

Heh, not sure if you were adroitly suggesting I am delusional for my thinking that positive thinking can change and heal (If you were that is perfectly understandable... case in point: I actually believed I would have a CF 8K camera by now '-)... or if you are saying that Einstein acolytes are delusional for thinking everything is an illusion. Either position, you may be right.

Had not heard about the heart-as-brain theory. Of course everyone is aware of the big head/little head battle for domination among men, so I guess it is possible every one of our organs has some connection to intelligence... well, other than the aforementioned little head. Sometimes that causes totally irrational action. '-)

Just agreeing with Einstein that most people are delusional, but in at least little ways they don't realise. We have to keep an eye on ourselves (which all the delusional smirking people don't think I do) :)

I think the little brain you speak of is just anti intelluegence. There probably are neurons spread about as you say, regulating things, but not intelligence or brains as we understand it.

New idea on what I hope it is... a new browser with an "ignore" button. That is, type in the word Kardashian and press ignore. The browser automatically blocks anything on the Internet pertaining to the Kardashians from getting through on your browser.

What do I say, if I make the wrong joke and run into them. I'm sure the situation would he different if they were the Young Kadashians again.

I would not mind a forum admim control browser where you can get the forum to ignore posts from certain people. :)

Wayne, you do realize there is an ignore capability that is user accessible on REDuser? Since there are no Kardashians here (people famous for just being famous) I don't use it.

But on the Internet, stories abound about that group of people who don't even sing, or dance or act. They just take up bandwidth on the Internet. A browser that can eliminate that and other similar things should at least get nominated for a Nobel Prize in some category like science but even up to the Peace category, if not outright win!

Funny to see people's thoughts on this, but I hope everyone realize that all ideas written here are based on things that already exists in some way or another... maybe it's a totally new thing? :tongue_smilie:

Christopher, this is only my *"gut feeling" '-) but I get the sense it is an orders of magnitude improvement on something that already exists.

* Speaking of gut-as-brain, this would explain how we came to realize that certain herbs and spices are beneficial to our health. Early individuals (shamen, medicine men, healers etc.) tested the plants to their tongue and because they were super aware their "gut" told them this was acceptable and would help rather than harm them.

I know, using it in one person at the moment. I'm saying an option to ignore them from everybodies view.

There are two views spirits that told them (angles and demons) evolution that people kept onntryimg till they found out which did not kill them or make them sick, but helped them and how it helped. Once your brain starts to recognise that certain things happen after every time you have certain nutrients/taste profile, you can get cravings for these things (my opinion of the mechanism). It is so strong in say allergic and inflammation reactions, just a hint of a substance can produce an expected chain of reaction. We had a guy out at my home town and kids were getting asthma attacks after he sprayed farm chemicals. So he washed out his tanks 3 or 4 times, filled it with water and went around on his intre row tractor spraying and the kids got a reaction. However, being a farmer he probably thought this was good 'proof'. But the reality is that that is nowhere near enough to clean out the tanks and eliminate the smell of the chemical. Even if you could reach into the tank and scrub it rinse and steam clean it 4 times the smell would still be there, you would probably have to chemically treat it to eliminate it in such a short time. So the kids smell it, even subconsciously and the body and brain gies here we go again. You have to actually learn sympathetic nervous system control, maybe through the lightening method, to learn to control it and turn it off, usually takes a weekend or so, lots of money. But the reaction is so strong I believe, just hearing the tractor and knowing this, is enough to set off the reaction. The problem is that our systems also seem primed nowadays for over reaction. I don't know if this is just diet as seem to be suggested, chemical haze we are in, or genetic and inherited from survivors.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, do you really expect another hint before it is ready. You never know.
