  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

There are a few things that are going to reveal them selves to have had been more critical that we all realized.

Power (how its made and stored)
Water
Food
Climate

Pretty much all interdependent and interwoven in their ramifications. My bet is ... it's in there. God I hope so.
 
The sad thing is that the power situation is within our technology to address, so the only reason that we're still burning fossils is profit.

Water will most likely be what goes to pot the soonest; so much of our global agriculture is based on such antiquated and inefficient methods, growing crops that require a lot of water in places there isn't much, and digging half-mile-deep wells to extract water from fossil aquifers to pick up the slack. Those aquifers are finite, and slow to recharge, so...
 
If it's something that can affect everyone and so far the hints are AWF and Mission Blue, it probably then has something to do with either wildlife and/or nature protection and/or conservation, wether it'd be land, ocean, animals, and/or people.

It won't save the planet [but] This new project will affect everyone in a major way"

The stuff that hops into my mind is somehow a waste footprint reduction, or something having to do with energy consumption, or water related, or maybe something I just can't quite envision right now. He also mentioned that at some point we might be asked for a deposit, so I'm thinking it will be some sort of product, unless they'd ask for some sort of donation to invest in the bigger picture, but I like the idea of it being a product. After all, Jim has been a great inventor of products through his visionary prowess in design. From motorcycle parts, to goggles and sunglasses, and my favorite of them all, a camera. Plus, if he took a break from RED by going to Fiji, I think that would be the right kind of place to start to envision this new project.

So what is it? I have no idea, but I'm really looking forward to it. He seems to be very excited about it, and something tells me that whenever he has this level of excitement about something, is because he knows he is into something big, even when there might be a lot of unbelievers out there shouting "Scam!"

So Jim, I won't ask what it is, but you definitely got my attention and will be encouraged to place a deposit, even if I have no idea what it is, but is there maybe an ETA of when you might finally spill some beans? :)

I think all of these could be close to the mark. It's certainly got my attention and looking forward to all the beans being spilt :)

Guess: The project involves rewiring Apple management's neural pathways utilized for building a mountain of money while the society is falling apart.
 
Wonder if this has anything to do with the new project. Looks SLIGHTLY similar to a design on RED's REALLY old website where they were showing a 100mp sensor design or something. Anyway just thought it was odd to see this.

A High Res 4K or more, portable device that records RAW or compressed RAW at a price anyone can afford to take over from where GoPro have stumbled.

Is a massive market and ripe for the picking now memory and processing speeds are fast enough.

Edit - Weareble and able to be synced for 3D

I don't think that's the case... they're working with other vendors to bring light field technology out to more filmmakers, rather than attemping to keep it to themselves a la Foveon.

Otherwise, I'd agree. :)
 
Everything I've read says Lytro failed miserably with their small stills camera.

Maybe Jim and his fellow patent holders have made great strides in doing that in a small handheld container such as the one shown and then un-shown by Ketch.
