  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

You guys are all way off. If you can't think bigger... I'm disappointed. :-)

Jim

Nothing really bigger than cold fusion, but Lockheed is doing that and even they are a decade away... there's immortality but me and Ray Kurzweil has that locked up (well, Kurzweil mainly)... outer space stuff isn't for everyone, so that's out... holographic recording and viewing could fit the "for everyone" requirement, so that's a possibility... repairing brains through Trans Cranial Stimulation after a stroke would work "for everyone" as everyone is touched by a stroke victim in some way but probably not Jim's field... Alzheimer's prevention but that's done by simply sleeping on the side so the excessive beta Amyloid can be broken down and transferred out of the brain via astrocytes, due to their blood-brain barrier connections... heart health but even that is easily solvable by little things like eating small amounts of dark chocolate throughout the day (to keep the blood vessels open via Nitric Oxide and the heart keeping rhythm from the magnesium)...

I'm running out of "big idea" candidates. I'm stumped.

I had no idea this article was about to be published when I made reference to the above.

It's for everyone

It better not be freaking sunglasses again.

I'm guessing something to do with power. Solar + a good way to store the energy?

Can this stored energy be used in a jetpack please? I'm getting older & really want those jetpacks I was promised as a kid.

Also, this type of thread is genius level idea mining. Why do I see Mr. Jannard following this thread while sitting in a huge comfy chair with a fist full of cash surrounded by engineers & every time a good idea pops up he turns to them, cigar clenched in his teeth & excitedly asks, 'think we could pull that one off' while throwing money at them.

I'll play the role of interviewer then.

Jim, does your new project involve one of these sibject matters?
1. Energy
2. Food
3. Water
4. Conservation
5. Medical breakthrough

Do you have partners outside of your RED family?

Where do you rate this project in terms of impact on human civilization?

How many years before we see the fruits of your labor?

Who amongst the great inventors and impactful people in history do you admire most?

What do you see as the greatest challenge we face over the next decade?

OK... cold fusion and immortality are much bigger than what we are working on. Good job.

That tells me it's still very big whatever it is. Glad to see you are out there pushing the envelope, challenging yourself and others. Honestly, we need more of this moving forward. We need great thinkers and great initiators. Can't wait to see what you're up to.

So if I were a billionaire, I would be into finding everyone else a new, or supplemental home planet.
If we can't terraform Mars, or it is just too far away (how long did it take to reach the "new world" back in the day?), then we can use comets, asteroids or even another planet to get the raw materials needed to create a suitable planet-like structure closer to Earth.
My years of flying have taught me that there is nothing more sustainable to life than having a complete, redundant backup to everything.
/getting elephants up into space to take them to the new planet would be a bitch... imagine for the whales!

1. Tiny Thorium-reactors that can power anything from a cellphone to a house for 100 years or so? :)
2. An affordable laser-projector for 4K home cinema?
3. "Hoover-stands" - Something really light that can hoover super-steady for a long time while supporting big loads of weight and thus can replace anything from C-stands to ladders?

I think you meant "Hover-stands".

"Hoover-stands" would really suck.

Whatever Jim is up to, I can't wait to find out. I'm thinking the AWF mention is a big hint. One of the voices in my head keeps telling me that I need to get in on this, whatever it is.

Watching the elephant in the room will be easier with this invention?

Has someone guessed Liquid Lenses yet? Seems if anyone could bring that to market, it would be you.

Coincidentally, I just spent the morning shooting all of the contraband, illegally imported animals and animal products, which are housed here in Colorado. After witnessing a warehouse of elephant leg stools and tiger rugs and jewelry carved from animal parts, it is hard not to feel like humans are butchers. It was a pretty sickening sight. If these objects were made of people parts, rather than animal parts, we would think of it as the underworld. Hell. Like something from a Lovecraft abattoir....

Racing Extinction was made by Colorado filmmakers, some of whom are friends of mine, but I haven't seen the whole film yet. No time like the present.

There are people working diligently on this already, some of them around my home turf even. But the ability to synthesize messenger RNA would allow the ability to repair or rebuild any tissue, or cure any disease.
