Folks,

We just published a new doc: "Archiving for Indies: Creating Long-Term Archives for Independent Digital Cinema"

Covers RAID and LTO-5 technology along with hard costs for real archives.

You can get it free at http://bit.ly/aVMG23

Thanks Torrey!

By the way, hope things are ok outside the Reduser world.

"Pay with a Tweet" is a great idea for something like this. Thanks Torrey!

I saw it on your Twitter feed and downloaded it a few days ago. Some great info in there.

Still have that Cache-A unit near the top of my list...

Steve,

Thanks much for that. Things are stable and holding steady for now.

Sometimes I wish that entrepreneurs would enter medical research the same way that Jim entered imaging: relentlessly pushing the envelope for something better than the status quo.

Am I right that I cannot read LTO-3A written tapes on an LTO-5 drive?

Martin,

This functionality would belong in the realm of Cache-A. Their drives are supposed to have read-back to LTO-3A. However, I am not sure if that has been enabled by firmware yet.

I think it has been superseded by this process:

DB,

We'll have more coming soon. Next one will detail more of the "business" of providing LTO backup to clientele.
