New TSA Regulations on traveling with electronics from overseas...
All electronics have to be able to be turned on when boarding international flights returning to the US.
This means you have to have at least enough of a charge to power up.
The idea being that electronic devices may be hollowed out and/or packed with an explosive device.
If you can't power up your device then you'll have to go through an added layer of security.
i'm not sure what this means in terms of traveling back to the US from overseas with a camera package...
Does everything need to be powered? Brain, Monitor, EVF,?
And i know i'm asking a question that can't be answered because it will depend on how the security agent in the country you're leaving interprets these new regulations.
Having traveled with exposed film in the past - JFK in NYC let me go through with a hand check and a swab of exposed film, while Vegas wanted me to open each film can or go through the x-ray machine which made me nervous.
i know X-ray machine are good with film under 800 ASA but who wants to take the chance on that with exposed film?
My experience with TSA in this country and in others when coming back to the US has always varied from rational ease to irrational paranoia on the part of security agents in foreign airports.
More info here on the changes...
