Hey, I was wondering if anyone has received any information in regards to new order fulfillment? Not upgrades, new orders for Weapon CF. I've asked everyone I can think of and no clear answer so I was hoping one of you, or RED, can provide some information? I understand Forged is shipping now for about 6 weeks or so, followed by Weapon upgrades. No word on new orders. Considering the hefty investment, I was hoping they would keep me in the loop at least a bit. Its not like I can enjoy my current non-existent RED while I wait! ;)

I'm wondering the same thing.

I'm HOPING the new orders are in a separate queue from the upgrades and so can proceed along side the upgrades.

Presumably, the carved carbons that are shipping now are being used as training for the lines to come.

Historically, RED has taken care of upgrades before they fulfilled new orders. Don't quote me on this, but I believe Jarred said the same would be true for WEAPON as well.

However, considering the higher price of entry for WEAPON compared to the older releases, I wouldn't be too shocked if RED broke that precedent with the WEAPON release.

Edit: Also, usually the reason that they cannot give a firm date for new body purchases is because they have to wait for every current owner to either upgrade or decline, before they continue on to new purchases. Now whether that system works for you or against you is simply a matter of perspective. RED, as much as they try, can't please everyone at the same time. Either new owners get WEAPONS first or the loyal user base gets WEAPONS first and historically, RED has sided with the old before the new. Again it's just perspective, but I can promise you that once you are on the other side of the fence you will be very happy with this system :)

I'll just selfishly side with the "old before the new" philosophy, thanks... :) :)

As an "old" 2 R-1s, 2 Epic Xs, 2 Epic Dragons, but now a "new" CF Weapon depositor, I say RED could justify doing new purchases first.

However, having been an upgrader in the past, I am willing to compromise and wish for a simultaneous rollout. '-)

Plan for carbon fibers is to process new and upgrade orders simultaneously.

Wow would you look at that... I'm not too shocked hahahah

But in all seriousness that is a very smart move on RED's part. Thanks for the update Brent!

Thanks for that confirmation, Brent.

This will help us estimate a ball park for camera arrival once fulfillment gets rolling.

Sounds like RED is pretty close to rock and roll time on the Weapon.. :)

That is great news! I was beginning to worry I'd have to wait until winter! Is the side handle planned for fall release as well?

Hey Brent, I placed an order for a CF Weapon upgrade almost immediately after they came online during NAB (along with the 8K pre-order). I just saw that you are going to ship new CF Weapons at the same time as upgrades. Would it be possible to change my upgrade order to a new order without losing my place in line? I'd love to keep my Epic Dragon as a second camera- the only reason I opted for the upgrade was because I thought that would be the fastest way to get my hands on the Weapon. Thanks!
