the 2.5" station is for any regular off the shelf 2.5" sata hard drives. Not for any media used on camera, just an easy way to move around data.

Transport. We have an upcoming shoot in LA, post in Melbourne gig. Moving 2.5"HDDs across the globe will be way cheaper than 3.5"HDDs and much safer (drop a bubble-wrapped 2.5" drive in transit, it doesn't have the weight to hurt itself. Drop a 3.5" drive in bubble wrap - not that good).
