Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get some feedback here. It's the latest video that I've directed for my band "October Sky".

This was shot on a Red Epic MX using Rokinon lenses.

Cheers!

Hey, Karl. Great job overall.

I think what this is missing is very tight shots where the actors face, hands, feet, etc fill the shot. I think in the surf scene as well as in the final battle scene, those could have been really great additions. Also I would experiment with the space between the camera and actor. I always try to lace my films with shots of blurry things moving between the camera and the actor. That'll add depth which I think is a bit lacking here. Play with depth a TON! Other then that, great job dude!

Thanks a lot man! I'll keep that in mind. I guess I need more time on set as well. This was produced with a very little budget, but that's no excuse!

Cheers!

Yeah, I totally understand the low budget and no time scenario! In that case what i've done is just grabbed some camera rig parts, some plastic bags, something small that you can hold, and move around the edges of the lens until you can see it start peaking into the frame. Heck, I've even used just my fingers directly infront of the lens to get some soft orange/yellow fuzzy stuff moving on the edge of the frame. Love to see the next shoot!
