  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new macbook pro 15"

I don't really see the update people are talking about here..

Apple's updates nowadays are so slow and unimportant.

Steve Jobs said Blu-Ray was a 'bag of hurt'

Thanks Steve...

a minor beef if the larger retrospect of things, but I really have missed an internal SDHC card slot like my PC has, especially when importing pictures, not to mention its quick and easy transfer, and with them getting to 32 GB size, its a cheaper flash drive. Does anyone else ever have problems with the PCIexpress card popping out givn it doesn't "lock" into place?

Hopefully they will join the rest of the civilized world and offer an eSATA port? Multi-lane, please...

Bruce,

Probably there are certain "civilized" and engineering reasons to not put esata in the brand new mac laptops.

rgdfilmsRED,

Steve Jobs, he is almost a Hollywood mogul and doesn't like Blu-Ray in his computers because it is very close to the possible "future step" to a piracy of m...

Today's Apple event was more to show how Steve Jobs is still alive then about the laptop updates because of the stock market that

is just returning from the "Road to Nowhere" right now.

Probably not. Even 13.3" tablet PCs have eSATA ports. For example, Asus has a nifty eSATA / USB 2.0 combo:

The reason there is no eSATA now is to give you a reason to upgrade again in 6 months' time.

You shouldn't try to defend Apple all the time or you look like a crazy Mac zealot - when actually you are a cool guy who posts lots of great info on lenses, does very brave and excellent things with IMS mount, posts great clips of interviews with directors etc.

Bruce,

I'm sorry,

years ago I had Sony Vaio top notch wide screeen laptop, very nice but I couldn't handle that Windows system mess anyway,

I used it for Linux to run a couple of months and the laptop suddenly "died" one day.

Could not booth in Linux or Windows either.

Such nightmare.

A service guy here in Vienna explained to me later that my Vaio was not recommended to run "Linux at all".

Then I gave it up.

Today I have Windows at my MacIntel machines and run that messy system only if I need it.

Greetings from my happy and safe life with Apple Mac computers.

Bruce - You can always get a Express-card interface for dual eSATA and many other interfaces for that matter... :) The new shells will be in the market for at least 3 years. eSATA might be yesterday news next year... :)

But then I can't plug anything else in, like a video IO card.

I don't care if eSATA is yesterday's news as long as it is fast enough to handle my HD video needs.

Firewire800 is just a little too slow.

Bruce,

What you are talking about?

Did you get some cheap SAKI to drink in your Japannese trip?

Think FW-3200:
- No need for new HW - the FW-800 connector is the same...
- Fully compatible with FW-800 and FW-400...
- All You need is a cheap cable...

I bet You the new FW-800 is FW-3200-ready...

No eSata
2 USB only (again)
What happen to Bluray Drive?
Display port adapter sold separately?
And price tag ..$2000-$2400 (This better have frame less screen).

I think, I'm perfectly happy with my April 2007 MBP.
