  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Light from Cineo

i was thinking the same thing, all the high-end LED units ive seen are super expensive, almost too much to spend to save power consumption, hopefully they become efficient on our wallets someday too!

Personally, I think the ones that let you get high light output and good colour rendering out on location without the constraints of generator power are worth their weight in gold!

I've been waiting for Cineo to bring out a DC/battery operable model - it doesn't have quite the output of an Area 48, but it's smaller and lighter so a much better option for booming out behind talent for a backlight.

Sort of depends on how you use it, doesn't it. Studio installations are paying for themselves rather quickly. Personally, I like the fact that they don't throw off heat, the bulb life is forever, they tend to be small and light, and, of course, DC power capability is great for portability. That said, I think it is somewhat environmental responsible to save power as well. And, of course, on location in smaller, older venues, you can be sure you won't overload the circuits.

On the high end I am excited about Cineo and Hexolux. At the low end, I just bought a Chinese one from CAME for $300 that is pretty darn good.
