We dont even need a sata connector anymore with tb. Why did they bother, i thought the point was to be able to replace interfaces with a standard one, alowing them to replace that port in future. I looked forward to the day when most desktop interfaces are replaced with one simple one.
Anyway, we have gotten away from the original question a bit, but the to add to the answer, it seems you dont need thunderbolt and red rocket the beefier imac can handle it if you use the right software that takes advantage of extra cores, all cpu features and a beefy gpu processing ability. Seems final cut x has added this but if it works for red footage remains to be seen and adobe has it. Doublely and triplely cool.
I have been resding eetimes (actual old electronics engineering industry newsletter), where you will find out about micosoft's plans for arm desktop version of windows, the amd arm deal etc (fusion conference coming up) and that the new 22 nanometer ivy bridge process us not currently announced for mobile chips, but fie desktop. Intel is apparently viaing to produce the Apple dedigned arm chips, and the tri gate 22 nanometer process is something I imagine mighr be very useful for it. So unless Jeff has something else to add, I guess thread halted until more redrocket through thunderbolt info and reports comes.
Thanks Jeff and all.
