  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW GROUP BUY: MICROREMOTE WIRELESS FOLLOW FOCUS

Actually, Mike, I don't think that you would be using any of the BNC ports on the R1 for start / stop. I believe it's one of the Lemo ports on the back that would handle that. Sorry I can't give you more specifics.

so I would plug the mini-to-regular BNC adapter cable into the start / stop cable from RR ?

Thanks.

- M

Yep Sorry, I just looked it up. The mini-BNC is for GENLOCK. There are 2 lemo AUX ports on the back of the camera for power and GPI/O. The RED ONE manual should explain how to use them. https://www.red.com/downloads/4f56854d6261f95a57000647

they charged my card in full, not the deposit and it's fully authorized and taken off the account... spoke to the bank, they confirmed... difference to full and deposit will NOT be credited back... RR needs to look into their payment processor - lots of peeps reported this now...

Hmmm

My card has not been charged either. Not for a deposit nor a pre-authorization. Curious.

My deposit was just charged about an hour ago. I got an e-mail.

I got the same email and checked my credit card activity. It shows a pending charge for the full amount and NOT the $250 deposit. No $250 activity at all. I emailed them and they are checking on it.

EDIT: The full amount disappeared and the $250 deposit was charged today 5/23 (not just authorized). So all is good.

Just a quick review of the redrock remote wireless system, I just got it last week and my AC used it on 2 of my jobs so far
-pretty good with the fujinon Cabrio, little glitches with small adjustments
-not so good with the 45-250 Alura, seems to be a little slow on the response and still pretty glitches on the smaller adjustments
-hand remote is kind of big, 2 screws to get to battery compartment, not good
-motor can't really handle stiffer cine lenses
-motor is a bit short to reach the lens on a 19mm set up
-in a 15mm set up it was tough trying to tighten the motor onto the rails with the placement of the lens and dovetail plate, had to use an offset to get a good angle on the lens.

These are the notes I got from my AC.
System overall is not bad, might have to replace the motor, I feel that's the weakest link in this chain.

The 19mm thing is kind of worrisome. :-(

I had to use an offset to get a better angle and to reach the lens.

Thanks for taking the time to post Chong. Can I ask for a little clarification on a couple things (if you know, understood that you're just posting what your AC said):

pretty good with the fujinon Cabrio, little glitches with small adjustments"

Which Cabrio, the 19-90, or 85-300? Needing adjustments probably could be said of any wireless FIZ controller. Did the RR seem more glitchy that others? Did the small adjustment get things working okay?

RR has been good about letting it known that the older/larger/stiffer cine lenses might be problematic. This isn't a what we want to hear of course, but the wireless controllers that can handle those lenses are also X 3 (or more) the money. Was it unusable for these lenses? Did it work, but just perform slowly?

Sounds like you had problems reaching the gears with both 19 and 15...big concern. Did thes issues pop up on a specific lens or on multiple lenses? Is your set-up non-standard? Did you run into any scenario where it worked as expected?

Thanks again for your feedback and my apologies for all the questions. Please know that my questions aren't meant to challenge you (or your AC), I'm only concerned about it for my own use.
