  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW GROUP BUY: MICROREMOTE WIRELESS FOLLOW FOCUS

Noel,

After you get your cable you will also need to tell the Redrock system that you want to use the run/stop protocol for an Epic camera. Apologies I can't remember the button pushing order on the base station but you can look that up on their site somewhere?

Keep me posted as this is sitting in my cart and cant decide to pull the trigger or not. Ugh.

Luckily it's woking like a charm on my CP.2 this morning so I didn't kill it :D

I think the old Zeiss we were on yesterday was just way to stiff. It was a stiff lens. I don't have much experience with other motors though so I couldn't' say how others would have faired.

Apart from that It worked pretty well. Range isn't huge but that was never really an issue. Couldn't pull as fast as by hand but again with less stiff lenses it would be quicker.

Noel,

I referred to how to set up the basestation to trigger the RED protocol in post #501. Let me know if you need any assistance!

I would be interested in hearing about how folks are powering the unit. I use REDvolts and RV XLs which, of course, don't offer a d-tap/p-tap. Ideas beyond the obvious of switching over to V-mount or AB?

Thank you Loren, and thanks Tom. I missed that post, thanks for not letting me spin in circles again. Just placed my order for the sync cable, will let you know if I have issues.

I recently found out (via the FreeFly website) that the Teradek Bolt and RedRock FF have opposite polarity wiring. Oh! So, I reversed the polarity on one of my Teradek cables and connected it between the Base Station and +1 Module. Worked like a charm.

Thought you guys might wanna know!

PS, I now have my MōVi and yes... it is fucking awesome.

One thing to be careful with is the supplied neck strap for the Focus hand controller. Only the second day of use the strap gave way and the contoller dropped onto concrete. On the plus side the controller was undamaged which is a testimony to its construction.

Had the RRMFF, out on a Raptor, with Red Primes-woked flawlessly!

Thank you very much

Fury

Nick,

Glad to hear you like the system.

Shoot us some photos of your setup if you grabbed any!

THIS SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME TWO DAYS AGO.

Neckstrap broke, unit fell to the ground, tiny chip, but the unit is solid.
As soon as you get your unit, replace the neckstrap!

Same thing also happened to me after the first shoot. Luckily my unit did now fall to the ground. I pried open the metal crimp and sewed the neck strap shut, then replaced the crimp which fixed the problem. The metal crimp is an issue and is unreliable on its own.
