  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Gibby Scoops from NAB!

Now I'm pissed.....All those guys in that room getting the skinny on everything.

You know, it ain't like the football where sitting at home is the best seat in the house.

why you still awake Glenn!!

I wonder if 4k projectors with RED pricing is gonna lead to a new style of street art with RED ONE visual artists projecting 4k images on the buildings and water towers of Brooklyn's skyline.... I'm tripping, I know.

Mini Red! Does Jim want to take over the world, too?

Wow!! MG!! I want to transfer my reservation for three mini-reds now !!! Even it won't come out in another 2 years, please Jim.. make it for us, Mini-RED will make the history, the history of all the rest becoming history in the past!!

You may need your REDONE ala the Silicon 2k camera system-- pure speculation on my part but something to think about...

This all sounds too good to be true (as if RED already isn't)! Do you know when the details will be officially announced Gibby?

"Little RED" Riding Hood!
And who's the big bad wolf? SONY?

Yes it is all official - we were at the booth to see the Peter Jackson film - and talk to Ted and Jim first thing.
The film was shot on 2 "alpha cameras" which had a "one and off switch and not much more. The film was shot in 2 - 3 days - 2.5 weeks ago and posted in NZ. I believe the film was graded on a Quantel box- but I am not sure on that last point.

The 4K displays, 4k projector and the Pro pocket camera are all real, but not shown. Ted went to great length to say that the Pocket Pro is a PRO not pro/consumer camera - "and not plastic".

The orders are flooding in - the queues are out the booth round the corner and down the hall to get in. Jim is greeting everyone in the 4K cinema and of course the booth is extremely busy.

There are new lens and new options as I am sure others have covered. I am going back with a film crew tomorrow - for a formal interview.

If you guys, who cant make it ask questions here - I will be happy to ask Ted on your behalf.

Plus of course we will be posting stuff here and at fxguide.com all week.

Mike

I want to know more about this pocket camera. If it's Super 16 and under $10,000 for a complete set up, I'll buy one.

What about the magic focus assist?

What is in the RED booth? Are they showing an operational camera, or prototype? We have yet to hear from anyone who has reported seeing the actual camera.

So far not much has been said about Redcine, we have the mile high view, but not the 'in the trenches view'. If you could expand on that if no one else does, it would be nice.

I want to know how fast editing 4k RedCode is with FCS2 and on what kind of machine (4-core, 8-core.) can you get USEABLE results? And specifically does Redcine officially accept EDLs or XML integration so an edit done in Final Cut Pro could be transferred into Redcine so that (if we can edit effectively in Redcode) the Final cut Redcode edit can be transferred to Redcine so only the RAW footage needed for the edit can then be conformed out to a finishing format to be then transferred into Color, after effects, etc. (like media managing a project to a new format using Redcine to conform the original Redcode RAW files to a final format.)
