  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New German Primes: Price below 10.000 per set.

The set will grow, still no 18mm, longest I saw was 95mm

Here is a picture, the lenses still expand upto 1" /25mm for the 95mm lens. The expansion comes at the mount end.

So far, 25, 35, 50, 75, 95.

Some optical improvements, although we have still to put them to the test. True telecentric lenses, which is incredibly important on a digital camera but this is what makes lenses heavy. 18-blade irises for exceptional bokeh. No focus breathing. Precision color matching. And some additional features that I cannot yet share but will have a number o you smiling as no other lenses offer them...

I had some excellent meetings with those involved with the project, but no, we do not yet have final pricing. There are definite plans, but I and others brought up a number of adjustments and features we would like to see, so these have to go back to the engineers to figure out options and costs involved.

Laguun is a very enthusiastic fellow. He tested the glass and saw the excellent optical quality. But he is not a manufacturer or a distributor, and we have many additional steps with which to deal. As soon as we all feel the lenses are ready we'll let you know. These will be very, very good lenses.

So we are talking about the Schneider Kreuznach Prime Lenses, right?

I saw them and and I have to say that (caveat-I'm not a lens expert) I was very impressed. They looked good, they felt good, and as far as one can play on a stand they seemed to perform well. Good mechanics. Zero breathing! Nice smooth bokeh.

I really wanted to come away from IBC with a decision on which primes to get. For me now it's down to these or the RPPs. I think these just might be worth the extra wait.

Hello,

I've found this thread today and I don't have the nerves to fo through 38 pages of posting. So if anyone if kind enough to share:

1) The set that the no. 1 poster talks about being less than 10 000 euros is ultimatelyu this Schenider lens set that Stephen posted a photo of above ?

2) Is is still below 10 000

3) When is the estimate that they'll be out ?

4) Do they cover EPIC 5K ?

5) Do they also work on film cameras ?

6) That T-stop are they aiming for ?

thanks a bunch,
Mihai

YES
No the last price was 3 lenses for 10K, current pricing unknown.
Not Known
Probably
No reason to doubt
T stops seem to vary T2, T2.1, T2.2. They might just be being more honest than others.

What do you mean by "expand"?

Do those that have seen these think they are equal to, worse or better than the RPPs?

I've only seen these. I'm getting to tests the RPPs next week.

John

The lenses get longer when adjusting focus. Some by just a little, one by about an inch.

The witness marks are better, could do with more markings just like the RPP's.

You can order but they are not yet shipping.

I have a meeting with my German friends on this in January. It has all taken a lot longer than originally expected because many of the suggestions have been taken to heart as well as some interesting new original ideas. There are some surprises coming.

will wait for surprises
