  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New German Primes: Price below 10.000 per set.

I guess Peter never had an MP in his hands. My comparison of the Red 300mm and MPs showed nearly two fold difference in sharpness and contrast on the MTF machine. MP was fully opened at 1.3 and Red at 2.8 :sifone:

Still, a good lens and I like the Red 300mm. But, horses for courses guys

He never confirmed that what he meant was that RPP @ T1.8 looks sharper than MP @ any T. I think he might have meant RPP is sharper than MP at any speed. Wither way... say RPP is only equal to MP, or close to equal... there is the price. We'll see... well you guys will see at NAB and let me know. Don't lose the faith.

And remember that Pawel owns MPs :)

I'm glad to hear that, since I also own MP's  . MTF will tell the truth. Although the RRP's seems to be one hell of a lens

Big disappointment of the year

Big disappointment of the year

9999.00 Euro for set of 3 Lens, Are you out of your mind?????

I just saw the Rebel IBE NAB brochure for these lenses. They mention Laguun's name directly on the brochure.

The prime set is only 3 lenses!!!!!!!!!!!!@#$@!#$@#$@#%

Laguun and the company he is representing has told us some miss-truths. These lenses are not coming from "one of the most recognizable lens companies in the world" as Laguun has suggested. They are coming from IBE.

3 lenses for 10,000 Euros and the lenses look like they are from 1956. They are so ugly I do not know what these guys are thinking. You guys just wait till you see them.

What happened to the 6 lens for 10,000 Euros? Or even 5 lenses?

I can't remember if this type of lies and deceit were normal in this industry before RED came to town. Do companies really think they can still get away with this?

I keep hearing it every week about Chinese Manufacturing now having better standards and processes than the Germans, and I am starting to understand why. German Engineering sure does not mean what it used to.

That was quite the Rant and I am sorry if I hurt any feelings. I just really hate being lied to.

Being german you affect and offend me. Yes, you do!

But being german and having witnessed this kind of marketing style with this type of end is just not nice at all. It was a trial to make the same kind of marketing that RED does, and, even worse, on REDs own marketing platform. So, hands down, I understand your point of view, I may even share it somehow.

Be aware, REDUSER is NOT an open free community, its mainly a RED owned forum. There is nothing bad with it, its REDs home territory actually. I wonder why they did not put this to an end before. But in the end they (RED) may be laughing more than others.

One thing to say:
I am sure that german engineering is still worth its name in most cases. I know to many people doing exciting developments here.

And btw, getting hired to bring technology and knowledge to e.g. china...

So putting them all down at once is simply thumb.

The actual "look" of the lenses may not be stylish at all, and I see no reason to say anything positive about it - but the lenses may perform pretty well - however they look like. I have no idea, I have just seen some photos, thats all I know about ALL new lenses from NAB, including REDs and others.

For me it counts what I see THROUGH a lense, not how the lense looks like externally... If RED performs better here, its just fine. If not, these lense may become an interesting thing. I am realistic here. The results count, nothing else.

Anyhow, I know Jan since a long while and don't want to comment much more on this at all, except: Be careful.

And now go and shop the lenses you want, whichever they are.

I would be happy if we can quickly see NEUTRAL lense comparisons from all the new stuff. I can't attend NAB myself, so if the performance of all these new NAB lenses (and other, older models) is measured somehow / somewhere please point us to it. THAT would help a lot more on buying decisions than moaning about old and useless unmatched price predictions NOR exterior design. I really really wonder why IB/E did not put this to an end before, but may be they did not know themselves whats going on here? But apparently the cite Jan's comments on RED USER on their broshure. Mmmmmhhhh...?

Doing advertising for years this can not be explained to me...

Saying nothing about prices would have been better if it ends this way. Anyway, we'll see what the competition does to prices in a short time.

So I hope all other vendors have that in mind next time they try tp jump on the band wagon. Most important thing: If you make promises, try to keep them. It may be really hard to do (I know what I am talking about), but should be the goal.

Are there any updates on these?

I've been in touch with Isco, they will be @ IBC. The price and bundles to offer are not closed, yet. Not even the ultimate mechanics design to offer on the production units (six weeks is the average they need for last stage as soon as they produce them), as far I could figure out. IBC is next stop.

It is a joint venture between ISCO and Schneider. I have some contact with them and I must tell you they have the best glass to offer. They are not aware of these online warfares. They are too occupied with the high standard of manufacturing they have. Who's ISCO customer knows what I'm talking about. The exhibition field, projectors, etc are their main market.

The work on these optics continues. The housings are completely redesigned, as are other aspects. ISCO is owned by Schneider. IB/E is an independednt optical design firm wih close ties to these other companies. The optical quality of these lenses will be very high.

Mitch,
I'm really looking forward to these lenses. Especially with a housing re-design.
The optical quality of these lenses was pretty good at NAB, if they are improved even more, I'm sure you'll have an excellent product on your hands.
Keep us updated. :)

Me Too.....

Isnt the image circle a little small for the S35 sensor on these lenses ?

I fly to Amsterdam today, set up our booth tomorrow. The show floor opens on Friday.

I do not yet have pricing.

I have seen them, but I'll ned to get them back to the shop and do some proper bench testing. So much that I can't see at a trade show. More info soon. To anyone here, they are on display at the Schneider booth.
