  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Firmware seems to look better! Default ungraded still.

So I just shot an Interview with C.K. Fletcher with the new firmware. Blackshaded right the before shoot after warming the camera up. I had every setting at the defaults DragonColor2/RedGamma4 and the footage came out so darn nice. Almost Zero noise in the blacks and I used the Skin Tone Highlight OLPF. Really spot on RED!

The shadows in this frame look amazing clean and unlike what I am getting. Can you please post the R3D and firmware version?

Hi,
First of all, it's a nice shot, with the setting, lighting and subject.

However, I don't feel the skin tones are proper.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised no one else here has mentioned it.

It may be ungraded but it looks like it has used DEB which makes the shadows quite clean while slightly degrading skin tones. JPEG compression is also cleaning up the little noise that might have been left.

I would like to see the R3D if possible to compare it to my reference. Anyone else have a well exposed current firmware R3D that shows shadow noise?

Thanks Bob! BTW: epic looking scene if it is a "scene" - scar looks pretty legit
