  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Feature Western Shot on 5DMK2 MATTIE

looks very nice, but 30p gives it some "home video" or "soap" look at times. I never liked video that was converted to 24p in post either, at least it is distracting for me to see the cadence artifacts.

I thought it looked good all be it viewing of Vimeo. I liked the grade and liked the camera work. I don't think the 30P think is an issue in fact I prefer it to 24p as I find the motion issues distracting.

With out wanting to kick off a major discussion on the subject some of it is down to image standards that your use to watching. For instance, here in europe we would generally hate 3:2 for TV features but in the US friends tell me they are use to 3:2 and are almost able to ignore the motion problems. Its only familiarity that makes it more acceptable.

Id like to se more 1080/50P for TV......

The good thing is with the new cameras and distribution we have a choice, and I hope with theaters they allow choice of format there too.
