The unique tethering feature of RED cameras is currently limited by exisiting Gigabit ethernet port.
The solution might be to offer a 2.5/5 or 10 Gig-ethernet port in a new I/O module IF the current body hardware supports this.
OR
use existing SDI output hardware and embed R3D RAW data in the existing 3G-SDI stream and capture it with a SDI input card in a PC running REDCINE-X. Such a software feature would be amazing since 3G-SDI (~3 Gbps) would even be enough to handle the Weapons maximum data rate of 300 MB/s.
This allows for unlimited tethered recording, live full debayer decoding, 8K monitoring and live grading.
