Anyone else see the new LP Primes at Band Pro?

Fast 1.4
Small and light 3lbs each made from titanium.
Equal spaced focus marks
Full Frame
14 blades
16 Primes....12mm 14mm 16mm 21mm etc...

Very impressive....

ohhhh... sounds very promising

Isn't that a very short throw? And a fat focus mark? It reminds me of the RPPs, only smaller.

Wonder what their price will be, and how they perform + look.

titanium barrels? if these are less than 10k a piece I will be shocked.
that makes the first set 100k, But when when you compare that with
S5s, not such a bad price

wow.....

I didn't spot in Matthew's blog that the lenses covered full frame 35. Jonnycom, did they tell you that the whole set would cover FF35?

I doubt that but you can dream . Would be interesting in how they made them so small, so fast and still cover such a large area. If they have then I know whats on my shopping list asap.

These are not really new, they have been floating around for a couple years. They are lovely lenses and they are really impressive. Mechanically they are S-E-X.

But wait until you guys see the price - You could buy every single exotic car that you had posters of on your bedroom wall as a young lad and sill have money left over to purchase a nice little house in the country, or buy a set of these!

Does this mean its expensive or cheap?

The focus marks you can see in the pic are just a window on the material.
The focus rotation is almost 360 degrees.
And the focus mark is actually pretty small, I think the camera in my iPhone wasn't too sharp and is deceiving. Also remember these are small to begin with. Not much larger than a Super Speed.

BP lens maker

BP lens maker

Finally a question: Who is maker of those lenses???
It's a name that will make you(especially you!!) smile all the way to the bank when you wire the deposit to Band Pro...

Astro? Heh heh heh sorry I couldn't resist :)

Why does it matter?
Would you think highly of them if they were made by Zeiss?
Or would you think lowly of them if they were made by a smaller company like Tokina?
In my experience, the manufacturer does not determine the quality of a lens.
What's more important is the people involved and the amount or care and passion that goes into development.
I've seen amazing things come from small companies.
If I recall, RED was a mere handfull of employees when they released the RED One and we all know how well that went. ;)
