New EVF ?

I'm still looking for my evf, what do you think about the latest arrivals:

- Zacuto Kameleon
- OEYE Portkeys

Are they better or similar to the RED DSMC2 OLED EVF or the Red is still the best?

IMHO the Red EVF will always be the best for integration and size. I have mine on a wooden camera quick release mount so i can add or remove it very quickly with thumbscrews. Power comes from the pogo too - no cables...

I had the Eye beforehand and i liked the display, wasn't 1080p and i could see the difference but not enough to worry about. But then it has it's own waveform and peaking and that's not very useful with Red because you want reds traffic lights and histogram because you don't want a histogram of the monitoring image. So you'd never use any of the built in functions of a 3rd party. Then the buttons on the back of the red can be mapped very easily.

IMHO i would prefer the Red EVF image size to be bigger. I don't know whether it would be possible to have different optical elements in front of it.

Get the the Red OLED and as Paul mentioned the Wooden Camera EF mount. It might be more costly but it's overall the best solution becauces the EFF is an intergrated part of the camera with camera functionalities which don't has the competition. The picture is sharp and contrasty and well suited for evaluationg focus.

This said, while the Red EVF is very small and lightweight you have a price to pay in regards to the magification of the picture. There are other fine EFVs out there which magnify more, eg the Canon and Arri EVF. But like the Red EVF they are part of the package and not a third party device.

Depends on the menu i would say...Zacuto Gratical is gorgeous. Blackmagic has a better screen than Gratical but is poorer in options which is important for me.

I have used Gratical, Red bomb 1rst version, blackmagic EVF and Kameleo pro, for me the Kameleon is the best. I love the magnification of the Kameleo and it's a 1920x1080 screen. If the manification is too big for you, or depending on the situation, you can push one custom key and have it instantly smaller to your taste.
