I just got my new Epic Dragon and I am still waiting for my monitor so all i have is the side handle. When I turn on the cam it turns on and i see all the info but none of the buttons work except for changing the f-stop. and suggestions? is this a firmware problem maybe? The record button doesn't work either

hey thanks for the reply, I just updated to newest firmware and have a DP7 attached. One friend told me I need to first map the side handle for it to work so I guess I need to have the touch screen to be able to get to the menu. right?

The side handle should work, without you doing any key mapping. Be sure you have it properly installed. The screw in thread sometimes needs a push to seat properly, while turning the crew, so to say...

There are hard buttons (U,D,L,R) around the center black button to navigate through some screens/functions, etc..

Thank you very much

Fury

I took off and put back on to make sure it's on good. Still not working properly. f-stop works and light turns on, settings and displays are shown but no buttons work

Its unlocked and when I press 1 & 4 the lock icon comes on screen so it doesn't seem to be the problem

Are you looking at your display (DP7) or side handle as you are moving the focus around? You should be looking at your display. As you use the dial and the arrow controls, you should see the focus move from box to box on the DP7. I have never used the LCD display on the side handle itself.

What do you mean none of the other keys work. Is your monitor HDMI or HDSDI? Can you see the top bar (FPS, integration time, ISO, REDCODE, etc) on the top? Do you see one of the items on the top with a red underline? You may need to apply one of the "force" presets we provide in the DSMC Toolkit to force your monitor to be the control surface.

If you are running 5.2, it's possible that your HDMI monitor is the control surface but the auto hide menus option is enabled. Try pressing the MENU button on the side handle - that's the button to the upper left of the directional pad / wheel.

I have the monitor hooked up HDSDI and the menu does not show up on the screen. I pressed the menu button and still no menu displays. What are the force presets?

By default the menus won't be enabled on the HDSDI monitor (it is setup as Clean). In order to help users like yourself we have put a collection of presets files in the "DSMC Toolkit" available on the download page. You can take the appropriate preset from this collection and put in a folder named "force_preset" on a SSD. On boot the camera will automatically apply the preset. We have various presets that will set either the HDMI or HDSDI monitor as the control surface (with various refresh and resolution settings). There are more details in the DSMC Toolkit itself.

Good luck.

Problem solved the forced HDSDI preset worked! Thanks everyone!
