New Dell 4K Display Announced

32” models are around $3500... Hummm

Looks great, just the monitor I was waiting for. I slightly prefer the 24"-25" size to 27" but I have no doubt that with 32" and 24" covered, 27" UHD is a matter of time for those who prefer 27". Just wish it was native 10-bit, but 8-bit+AFRC is just fine for a GUI monitor. Factory calibration to <2 dE sounds great too - they did a fantastic job of factory calibration with the U2713HM, and this could only be better. No HDMI 2 yet but DP 1.2 should be fine with any modern GPU. Let's hope Dell gets the price right - this would be a killer deal for ~$1000.

Pretty good monitor, but only 8bit + AFRC.
So, not really 10bit (1.07b colors).

Almost all the UHD panels made are 10-bit but I can't find any information about the panel used in this monitor so it must be one that is BTO or is not in mass production and sold on the open market yet.

"Following the initial revelation of some details on a new 24-inch 3840 x 2160 "4K" Ultra HD display from Dell yesterday, the company has now officially announced that the display launches today in the Americas with a $1399 price tag. A 32-inch model at the same resolution is also available for $3499, while Dell will be introducing a 28-inch 4K display in early 2014 with breakthrough pricing of under $1000. "

I still want a good 39-inch display. I dunno if we'll ever see the Asus one given the sizes hitting production now.

Why is the 28" cheaper than the 24"?

REC2020 won't come until there is full HDMI 2.0 support. And even then, it's one of the tiered options that manufacturers are not required to support, same with 10/12bit color at UHD resolutions, among other things.

The 28" falls in line with the current 27" and prior 30" displays. It's just a high-res desktop display. The 24" and 32" models are a leg up in that they provided integrated LUT support and a few other features for tweaking the display. The 32" Dell is available now through their corporate sales channel. I have not seen it yet, but it's the same as the Sharp/ASUS one, with the additional LUT support. I've heard it's the best of the displays out there based on the Sharp PN-K321, just because of the extra control features. The 24" looks to be identical, just a smaller panel.

Would anyone be interesting in doing a group buy with the dell 32"? I contacted Dell and was able to get them down about 20% (2799 vs 3499) if we got a group to purchase a bunch. Not much savings over the buy one get the 2nd one for $900 off option, but still a few more bucks off.

I'd do a group buy on the 24" and would take 2 or 3 of them, possibly more. Might do a 32", but at > $2K, I'm probably going to wait another 6 months for when they ship units with HDMI 2.0 and the upcoming video cards support that.

Same here. I'd like two of the 24" models.
