Happy to hear you're letting your babies out in a wild:)
I am sure they'll have new good parents, that will treat them with the same care and love as you did.

PS
If anybody feels that it may be too much of a responsibility I am willing to take one or a couple under my roof:)

with love
Albert

It's funny I was at the NAB booth at 9 AM when they first released the specs for the planned system. I remember as a post/vfx guy thinking my god what have they done. Now two years later living in Hollywood (I was living in vegas) seeing it come to reality is rather gratifying to the indie side of me. Jim you ever need a screening room in West Hollywood that'll be running scratch we're right across from the old Warner Brothers Lot.

congratulations to the entire RED team. thank you for the cameras. thank you for the transparency of your business model. thank you thank you thank you.

Can anyone say whether REDCINE has the ability to export individual still frames in some kind of format that Photoshop can load (for example TIFF) ? And if so, will there be metadata included also, in the file and/or as a separate text file? That would be very useful.

The iPhone and RED in this same year of 2007. This will be quite a year for the history books, indeed. Amazing times.

That's awesome Blair!

My guess is that Red alert tells you if your recording media (cf) is fast enough to use with the Red One. My second guess is that it checks your files and tells you right after you shot them if they are OK, like file verification and integrity with one check.

I like your second guess idea. But the verification should be done while you are transferring the files from the recording medium to a backup solution. RED ALERT would be an application on the computer like RED QUICK is.

And my guess is, the RED alert is a worldwide organisation which delivers help for every REDuser and his REDone in trouble. Example: RED 222 deep in the jungle, broken by silly monkeys, so you press on a REDknob and they beam you down a new camera.

...The cast rail system tooling is not done yet, so we built several machined sets (need to charge more) for those that need them now....
You know, in 20 or 30 years these will be highly prized collectors items!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a set of machined rails. But I'm sure the cast rails will be top quality anyway. I'm just a crazy collector when I get started on something. I always want to have every accessory with all the documentation, etc.. I'll probably end up buying one of every product that RED makes, even if I don't need it.

Will the other units follow the schedule already known?

I'm looking forward to first impressions..I hope to see some feedback here on Reduser.

The 18-50mm CF zoom and 300mm lenses are ready. The cast rail system tooling is not done yet, so we built several machined sets (need to charge more) for those that need them now. We have CF cards, batteries and charger, cables and all you need to turn the camera on and record.

Just to clarify since it is not mentioned here, are the RED-DRIVEs also going to be ready at ship time? I understand that you have fallen in love with CF, and while that should prove to be a great option for many settings (I will definitely be getting the module myself), I also see lots of times where the vastly extended recording times of the RED-DRIVE will prove to be more applicable. Since Peter Jackson was using one way back in April, I would wager that the drives are ready, too, but since you didn't specifically list it I didn't want to assume. Forgive me if this question has been answered elsewhere.

I don't think so, Häak. I didn't read it. I hope I may have my RED DRIVE next October 10th and yours in September since Jim has only mentioned the freeware upgrade or further updates, nothing else.
