I've just come back from my summer vacation.
Luckily, with the help of Dan Duran, my camera arrived just the day before I left, so I have been able to play around with it for the last 2 weeks (thanks also to Octamas, who kindly lent me the charger and batteries that were missing in my shipment).
Until build 16 came along I have used REDCine to view my clips and apply some basic corrections.
Since build 16 I have been using REDAlert and have struggled to find a way to quickly view all clips shot on a given day, apply corrections and render them for editing. I have searched the board but have not found anything (my apologies if I have missed something), so I knocked together a very basic application today. It is called Clipfinder (yeah, I know, very original...)
It will open a directory containing RED clip directories and display a list of clips, that can be sorted by name, date/time and clip size.
Moving through the list with the arrow keys will display the selected clip, pressing the space key will play/pause the selected clip.
Pressing RETURN or double-clicking on a clip will launch REDAlert and open the clip in REDAlert.
That's all there is to it, but I find it makes the process of selecting clips for processing much quicker.
In the sharing spirit of the RED community, anyone who finds it useful, may download the application from
http://www.daun.ch/software/clipfinder.zip
I have tested the application on an Intel Quadcore Mac under OS X 10.5.3. It may work on a G5 (it is a universal binary) and older OS versions but I have not tested that.
The usual caveats apply, i.e. the software is provided "as is" without any explicit or implicit warranty of any kind. Use at your own risk.
