Maybe it's just me being slow, but it looks like RED has released new cables for LCD, EVF and drives. Hopefully we won't see the problems with cracked cables right at the edge of the connector-housing anymore?

That's interesting. Yes, both LCD and Drive cables got the strain relief cracked almost instantly. :incazzato:

"strain relief" - that was the word I was looking for :-)

Yeah hopefully we won't see cracked cables as often with these new ones. It's not like they're cheap...

The new strain relief looks like genuine Lemo, which is very robust and strong.

Guys, these same images of cables in the Red Store have been there for years. I just got a Red Drive cable about a week ago and it looks the same as the one that came with my first Drive.

We need someone from RED to clear this up. I'd be pretty bummed if I ordered a couple of new cables thinking they had new kinds of strain reliefs and then showed up looking with the old one. I just emailed my Bomb Squad rep.

Running change a long time ago. Went from the strain-reliefs you see in first post to the ones that say "RED" on them.

Brent - sounds like people would like the original ones. Any chance? (pretty please)

That is not my call and, as you can imagine, a big ripple effect with inventory on-hand, etc. I can put forth the request from the community...

Brent - also (if possible) it would be nice with the possibility of having a cable with only straight connectors and one with the angled one switched 90 degrees. Would be nice when using the ET drive mount and Action Products drive mount. User is king, right? ;-)

Thanks Brent. I think, what we experience, is that the strain relief that has the cutouts is not as durable as the smooth LEMO type that is pictured in the first post. I used both types and the smooth LEMO type seems very strong and durable. The RED power cable that I have uses this type and it has been great.

Any news on this?

Personally I think it's misleading that RED is sending you this when you order this.

No news, no. We are aware of what has been posted here and when there is more info, I will post.

Great - thanks Brent. Much appreciated!

I have to agree with the smooth. I can not plug my two right angle cables together because they are too fat. I have to plug the LCD in backwards to get them both in.
