  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Beta-Build 18...

GPI's

GPI's

Can you enable Rec. and Ramp at the same time?
If so do you any ideas as to why my camera can't?

On different GPI's yes. No I don't

p.s I have also tried triggering record from GPI A and initiating the RAMP from the left hand button on the RED-LCD
- i.e set USER 5 to RAMP.

The above works equally well starting the record from the red Record button and then initiating the RAMP from the RED-LCD

Initiating the ramp from a camera button seemed to work fine for me. I think something in my GPIO ports is funky. I tried a few more combos and it seems I can only trigger a ramp from the bottom "B" port regardless of which port is set to actually trigger or is even activated. But I can activate a Rec. from either normally. If either port is set to Rec then triggering a ramp is impossible. Strange:headwall:

Alright I think I might have tracked this down, my "A" port doesn't actually seem to be triggering anything. I thought I had tested this on Rec. but decided to re-test and sure enough, although there is power and the Rec. button lights up, nothing happens when I push the button. The software must see the "B" port as the "A" port since the "A" port is not working and activates this port regardless of weather it's set to A or B.

Could the GPI function be overloaded/shorted without the power being tripped?

It's been pretty quiet on the feedback front for the new version of Build 18. Any and all feedback is welcome. We can certainly assume that "no news is good news" but we rather hear it from you. If you had issues with release build 17 or with prior version of Build 18, please let us know if you are having better results with 18 v 3.6.4. Please get that directly to Sean at sean - at - red - dot - com .

Thanks, BC

Well I've just upgraded to 3.6.4 and after black shading (on two cameras) my perception is that the noise pattern has improved even more than in previous builds, i.e. it feels even more random and film-like.

Will play some more with it today but by all indications it's stable and the bugfixes so far are most welcome. Everyone is happy with Phantom power mode on/off holding across shutdowns!

Boot time was 69 seconds, give or take.

No news is definitely good news in our case!

Hi there Brent,

I'm shooting a job at the moment on the latest BETA build 18 and had some audio playback issues like one that was mentioned in here a few posts ago. We're shooting 4k 16x9 rc36 to drives with 2 active audio channels, 1&2. When playing back off the drives when the audio rec enable is activated AND the camera is receiving audio, playback is possible. When the audio rec enable is activated but the camera is NOT receiving any audio, playback initially begins but after a second or so greens out and comes up with an audio error. Example is shooting 100% sound then pulling the audio cables out of the camera for a quick mos shot, the playback on these shots kept crashing.

Interested if this has happened to anyone else- hope it's help full.

Cheers,

Lachie

This is an issue that we are still investigating. Some consumer TV sets will do this, others won't.

Amazing! My 42" Samsung LCD didn't cause my camera to crash on boot up. That's never happened before. Thanks Red!

Shoot yesterday 110 gigs of footage with the new beta, recording audio on camera, going varispeed and playing back on camera and had not a single issue ... seems towork very well!
coud not hear audio from headphones but still have to check if i'm doing something wrong as i'm not using them often ...

Have the same problem. Could not hear audio from headphones but everything seems to be just fine.

This is a known bug- for now go into the menu and disable audio, then re-enable audio and it comes back.

BTW- Its not just headphones, its the 5 pin also.
