  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just yesterday i was showcasing RED to a camera operator and he made fun of this missing feature ... never thought about it because i can tell if it's RAW by eye, but sure would be an important feature for people not using RED everyday ...

I hope to see this as well.

I've been on a number of shoots where an AC or DP has accidentally hit the RAW toggle button and no one knew that the camera was in RAW viewing mode until later. Doesn't effect the recorded picture, but does give a WTF moment as people wonder what happened to the nice image they once had.

It wasn't long ago that most everyone was making fun of the concept... now just this feature? We must be in pretty good shape. :-)

can you view 4k ana quicktimes and has the shaded crop on the directors monitor gone when shooting anamorphic with both the EVF and LCD in use.
 
Is there any impact with the audio changes if the audio board hasn't been upgraded as yet?
ie, should I stick to build 17, or is it OK to try this new build?

I thought this was a feature to let you know the camera rebooted itself do to an error, is it fixed so the camera doesn't randomly reinitialize anymore or does it just eliminate the blue screen? The blue screen was good since it let you know the camera rebooted and all you had to do was unplug and re-plug the lcd.

Also, I don't know if this has been covered, but figured I would ask.

Since False color is only accurate in RAW is there any chance there will be a way to program a user key to put the camera in False color and RAW with one button.

Edge Detail is a feature that could use the ability to be programed to a user button.

If there could be a way to have a HD-SDI output that only showed clean Red Space with no menus, false color, raw, etc. That would be very useful for client monitors.

Thank you everyone at RED for the amazing progress all of you have made in such little time and the great support you have given in times of trouble with our camera.

Sounds like the last problems I was worried about are gonners. Hope people post their experience with these after a few weeks of use. Good stuff.

OK to go to this build with the old audio board.

IS the Build 18 beta solves the playback problem when audio is recorded along in Red Drive. Till Build 17, when we playback when recorded along with audio from RedDrive the camera restarts or greenscreen, whereas when try play from CF Card, It plays well.The above test conducted from not a single camera but 4 cameras here in chennai.

Hi

I notice that unlike build 17 and earlier 18 betas this build does not claim that we can record 16:9 3k @ 60fps. It is across the board more conservative with the possibilities.

It used to be claimed red ram could record redcode 36 16:9 3k @ 60fps Was this simply too much or a mistake?

Either way it is good the manual is now correct as I was confused by the previous claims into buying Red-ram and would not want to see other people make a mistake.
