Hi,
We are ready to buy a couple more batts for the R1.
I've looked into the Switronix and the Anton Bauers.
Which ones would you suggest?
I want to spend as less as possible and hopefully I'd like to be able to keep using the bricks I have and the charger.
Also, the hotswap option would be mandatory.
What set up do you have?
Care to share your experiences with non brick batteries?
Thanks in advance.

Why not the Blueshape batteries? They're essentially the same as RED batteries only with better warranty and serviceability (sorry Jarred).

I don't know about your google, but mine gives these contact e-mail addresses:

info@blueshape.net - sales@blueshape.net - support@blueshape.net

I'm quite happy with the Global Media Pro batteries.

Anton Bauer are pretty much the top-of the line batteries, but so long I preferred rather getting more batteries that last slightly shorter.

RED batteries of course come with the RED service.

I had written to sales@blue.. but didnt get a response. Thats why I looked for blueshape dealers in the USA on their website and thats the email that showed up (the hotmail one)
Anyways, Will give them another try, thanks for your suggestion.
Has anyone tried the switronix or abs?
Thanks!

I bought four RED compatible batteries from globalmediapro and they rock!
The send a signal to the camera so the capacitiy is shown in the display just like with RED Bricks. And they are cheap too.
I usually need three to bring me through one whole day of shooting.

Didn't know there was a third maker of batteries now that provided power information to the RED. I knew that RED and I believe IDX had batteries with the information chip, but good to hear that GMP has those batteries.

Esteban,

The XP-L95RED to the best of my knowledge is the only battery that passes % data, and is AIRLINE OK! If you travel, keep that in mind. If you don't travel, those others listed may serve you well.

Abel Cine may have some packages with the XP-L95RED and hotswaps to save a little. Mitch@Abel can chime in with packages available probably.

Thanks Vinny, we sure do. Here's the best one to my thinking: four 95whr batteries and one HotSwap adapter with the Lemo plug, all for $1600. Basically getting the HotSwap for free.

We have a few other options as well. Check 'em out on the website.

great info here thanks to all!
It'd be good to keep this kind of threads updated in the accessories thread and red related companies sticky aswell.
Ive found that fellow users had been using some non red batteries with some issues that have been solved over the years and that new red related products emerge.
As of today, the cheapest option I've found for the hotswap option is the Batteries For Broadcast at U$170 (has anyone used it ???) Then we have Switronix at U$ 295 (surely it would come down if you buy a set of batts just as B4B) and then AB at U$ 319 (you would have to change the v-mount system.
Then, batteries wise: B4B (150WH) u$385, Global Media Pro (190WH) u$369, Switronix (190WH) u$600, Red Brick 450, IDX Elite (142wh) u$600. (still waiting to hear from Blueshape)
I'd love to hear any feedback from anyone who has used any of the above and share their results.

Peter, thanks for sharing your experience with GMP. I will definitely look into that.

Vinny and Mitch, thanks so much. It seems to me it sounds like a pretty good deal. Will keep that in mind, I also have to consider the charger, so keeping it all from one supplier definitely seems wiser.

Ok, enough time spent here.. gotta work..
Thanks for everyone's input.
