I work for a Rental Company and we bought Red Cameras so we could rent our lenses, the Camera is not the money maker. Some One who pays 17.5K for a Camera probally is not going to pay 52K for a Optimo 12 to 1. We found our lenses going out quite a bit while our 535 and 435 sit on the shelf and collect dust,so buying a Red was a no brainer for us.
We also have Grip trucks, lighting, Fisher Dollies, super Techno Crane and we offer discounts if you get everything from us. That may not seem fair to the Owner /Operator, but you guys mostly operate in a whole different market
I have been in this business since 1980 and I have seen many sweeping changes in this industry, and it always passes. So, today it's the Red Camera. Tomorrow, who knows?. But you can be sure it will move on to something else.
