  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Apple iMAC! Discuss...

why not just use a western digital book end thunderbolt or similar box? same speed, uses only one port (and have a passthrough tb port) and might even be cheaper....

The WD Thunderbolt Duo uses the much slower green WD drives, and the WD VelociRaptor using faster drives is way more expensive.

i wasn't aware of that...what i meant that there are raid 0 and/or 1 thunderbolt boxes available....i think the little seagate TB is great (i have one as well) but it only has one TB port and does not come with a cable (which brings the price to 150$)....so i am not sure i see the point in creating a raid that takes up 2 TB ports with 2 of these....
an advantage is the portability but the drives can slide out pretty easily and i would not call a 2 cable solution all that portable....and i would not really put any crucial data on a striped HD (moving parts) array and especially not this "portable" solution....one drive fails, its all gone....
i guess what i am saying is that there are other options...

They make a desktop model which has 2 Thunderbolt ports.
