What do you think ?

I can't think of a single portable computer that allows you provide the display with an external input.

The only way I see people doing this now is by hooking up some kind of capture box like a matrox or an aja. Those solutions as a pure monitoring play are pretty flawed as well. Especially if you want it to be very portable, I assume the whole reason for wanting a tablet as a monitor in the first place.

This truly would be a first as far as I know.

I have a Fujitsu laptop that has an external standard def video input and also a software TV tuner. I thought i would use it as an editing monitor, the delay that it had by digitizing the input to display it totally caused all kinds of timing problems. Sounded like a good idea that worked weird in practice.

At NAB, AJA had something designed to go into an expresscard slot and monitor 1080p on a laptop. haven't heard much about it since.

What does Peter Jackson use for his wireless monitoring at "The Lovely Bones"???

"There is no point in having sharp images when you've fuzzy ideas." Jean-Luc Godard.

That's just bad grammar! It should read:

"There is no point in having sharp images when you have fuzzy ideas."

That's better :thumbup1:

Looking for solutions for anamorphic monitoring around the laptop solution, I've received these both tips from David Newman in order to a monitoring custom feature:

Matrox MXO2 (currently available but we should have to request the features directly from Matrox)
http://www.videoguys.com/Search/Search.aspx?Query=mxo2&PageSize=0&Page=1&SortBy=1

and the upcoming AJA Express IO (3Q 2009)
http://blog.digitalcontentproducer.com/briefingroom/2009/04/20/aja-io-express-showcased-at-nab-2009/

It does seem we need to convince Matrox to give a hand in a promising market where there are no choices yet -- any volunteers?

I can't say for sure the exact model number and brand. What I can say for sure is that it's not a consumer laptop/tablet of any kind.

Maybe you should contact this link to correct the grammar>>>

It would be a great deal for buyers and suppliers.

These Apple tablet rumors have been around for years. Like many Apple rumors, it consists more of features users hope than what Apple would actually do. They aren't exactly known for outfitting their devices for the widest variety of uses, so I wouldn't expect any kind of monitoring functionality out of it.

I'll believe this thing exists only when I see it.

the guy who said it was french :)

And it actually is proper English - a standard contraction...

"You've Got Mail"

"Since You've Been Gone"

"Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter"

"You've Got a Friend"

I think you've got the idea...

Notice though that you added "got" to many of those.

"You've a friend"

"You've Mail"

"Mrs. Brown, You've a Lovely Daughter"

I think technically "got" is optional but you just employed it in nearly every example. Anyway "I think you've the idea."
