[FS: RED Cameras] NEVER Sell Your Gear to Adorama!!!!

Very Sad,
I'm not in NYC, I will be back in NYC by 26th.
If no solution for your case, I can personally visit them for you.

Cheers

Did you have a serial #, proof of ownership, and photos? Maybe RED can help you...

Adorama is closed the only thing I csn do now is wait till Sunday to call.... what im still confused about is why they would send the small bits & pieces in an over sized box that couldve fit the whole package... Ive bought plenty of gear from adorama with no problems and ive never had to wait 3 days for an item to ship...

I can't comment on this particular situation, but I've had trouble dealing with Adorama before. My dilemma involved buying items from them that were said to be "In Stock" and they charged by credit card. Then they sent me an email saying that it was "out of stock" and to contact them if I want to change my order. I immediately contacted them and asked them to cancel the order because I needed the items right away. They did not respond. Eventually I had to call them several times and they finally got someone to fix the order. However, they did not return my money because they were still "investigating" the order. WHAT?? So after waiting for 2 WEEKS, I had to call my credit card company and tell them to give my money back. Money showed up right away. A bit sad that a company as "reputable" as Adorama acted so foolish. My experience changed my opinion of them.

Jason were the items you purchased new or used? Ive seen this happen with alot of the used gear they sale

Sorry to hear that..while on the subject-If you need batteries then DON'T buy from Global Media Pro. First of all they have no phone number-Second they rarely answer an email after they have your money-Third -They gave me a total of my order and how much to transfer/wire to their bank and after transferring the EXACT amount they requested, they tell me I am short $17 on a $1400 order. Then they say they will discount the $17 but it might delay the order- Even though it says on their website 2-3 days for orders to the United States , It is going on 3 weeks and I haven't received my order of batteries yet- Meanwhile I had to rent batteries and a quad charger for a shoot I had with my RED Scarlet and spent $160 for rental. As of now my last email 3 days ago hasn't been answered on an arrival date for my order- Don't be dumb like me-Keep your orders in the US if you live here and make sure the company has a phone number also-They are the worst company I have EVER dealt with. Nick Roman-CEO -Roman Media Productions.

Go to small claims court and sue that ass for damages and hit them for the full price of new parts, and to replace the camera when that letter arrives they will contact you and want to work it out. So keep all pictures and mailing info.

+1

Got to agree with Tony. It's a good thing you took those hi-res pics and can show the difference from before and after. Might want to take some more pics from the same angles highlighting the damage. And you have the email chain of your correspondence with them. Let them know that you will press your case to the bitter end then hope it lights a fire under their asses. I'm in NYC and could act as your liaison if you need me.

Small claim court have a limited amount that you can claim...I don't recall how much for NYC. Anything above you will need to hire an attorney and pay large amounts on fees.

Regarding Adorama, I did have bad experience with them and my son too. They don't have the touch and experience to deal with pros.

Hello everybody Ive spent the past few weeks trying to sale my red one camera to Adorama & it was a complete waste of time and money...I talked to them on the phone and sent plenty of high-res pics and then they gave me an offer for $9K and told me it might go down depending on the condition of the camera. It was to good to be true.. I spent $300 to next day my gear to them then after a 1.5 weeks they finally gave me an offer of $3K. My gear was in mint condition so I told them I could sale all the accessories for 4K alone then told them to ship my gear back.. They spent the weekend trying to get me to trade my package in for a d800 or another camera & told me the red ones mxs are getting old and its better to sell them now...Monday morning I called and told them to ship my package back. I told them to ship the item by Tuesday @5 that way I would get guaranteed delivery by Friday because I have a paying gig Saturday. They told me they could do that. Thursday came and I hadnt even recieved a tracking number so I called again & they finally shipped the item that day & they next dayed it to me. When I got the package today I noticed it was a extra large package & was super light so I opened and it was filed with a bunch of bubble rap and nothing but my rods, monitor, top handle, power suply, & cf card w/ reader....I was pissed. Im missing my body, red bricks with charger, nikon mount with nikon lenses, baseplat, dovetail & etc. Not only was I mad about that I was mad because the items I did get back were in worse condition then when I sent them in... alot of the items now have scratches and dings so bad you can see the grey metal bits. to make it worse when I called and tried to explain to them and told them to next day the rest of my items they hung up in my face. Im so angry right now...What should I do?

I was deeply concerned to read that this was your experience and would very much to assist you; can you please email me: Helen@adorama.com with :

  • your original quote number
  • A picture of the box your gear arrived back in
  • Clarification of whether the Adorama security stickers were intact (with pics if possible)
Before & after pictures of the gear you sent in

Can you give me any more detail about this? eg your order number, and if possible, forward me details of any emails that were exchanged between yourself and the Adorama CS department, to: Helen@adorama.com

It sounds odd because we don't ever charge a credit card until an order actually ships.

If the gear you "did" get back, was that beat up, maybe it was NOT the "exact" gear you sent them.

If you have a collection of pictures of the items, and they clearly show no damage, etc, etc. And, if you feel the total value of your equipment is less than $10,000.oo, if I were you, I would take them to Small Claims Court. But, first threaten them with legal action "in writing".

Save each and every email you get from them, and any and all other things that could show your side of the story. The chances are very, very good that you would win hands down in court, or at the least, they would make financial amends or return the EXACT equipment you sent them.

I have been to Small Claims Court several times over different things, and rarely, if ever, do big companies bother to show up. Therefore, they lose by default. Believe me, the judges are always in favor of the little guys. I won every time.

Good luck in your fight, and do NOT give up until you are happy with the results.

Take care,

George

Yes It sounded odd to me too, since that was clearly Adorama's policy. however, what actually happened was much different from the stated policy. Helen, please don't add more work to my busy schedule by having to look up order numbers, and gather emails from the various people I spoke with at your company. If you care about finding more regarding this transaction, simply search your records for my name "Jason Comparetto" and you should see a disgruntled customer which had to file a chargeback with his credit company in order to fix the situation. Its pretty sad that it got to that level. I don't remember the last time I ever had to do that.
