Need recorder advice...

If I were in the market for a basic mixer/recorder, I would put Zaxcom Maxx right up there with the 664. 4 analog inputs w/ phantom power and TC I/O.

It's a good guess that both machines are head-to-head competitors. I could see good arguments for both sides, and there have been quite a few spirited discussions about them on Jeff Wexler's Location Sound forum. I have a strong suspicion there will be more choices available by April at NAB.

For solo shooters this could be an interesting item to have in the bag .. stereo 24bit/96k on your iPhone etc ..

I agree. I would probably go for the Maxx now if I needed a recorder. I don't need more than 4 channels.
